FYI - Railroad Day - Avella PA (Near Pittsburgh)
Posted by rchgck on Tuesday, May 17, 2011 11:42 PM

For those who might not be familiar with the A.D. White Research Society in Avella, they host the annual Avella History Fair in the fall.
They have the old Wabash Railroad station and Chessie System (B&O?) caboose on display in Avella.

This Saturday May 21, they will host a Railroad History Day, with displays, pictures & memorabilia by several groups, including MRHS, the P&WV Hi-Line guys, A. D. White Society's own displays and more.
The admission price is good for all - FREE!!

It takes place at St. Michael's Church from 10am to 3pm.
St. Michael's is at 97 Highland Ave.
If you take Rt. 50 into Avella & follow it across the bridge over the railroad, going up the hill, Highland is the 1st street to the right.  The church is 2 blocks.

The church ladies will have a buffet lunch available during the day.
I don't know the cost, but it will certainly not break the bank.

At the end of the session at the church, they will adjourn to the Wabash Station and Caboose to check out those items.
If you have an interest in railroading, would like to bring something to display or participate in some railroading stories, come on out & join us.
I'll see you there.
