Demise of the first 200 kph (125 mph) freight service

I missed the announcement this past October that with the winter timetable change Fret SNCF would be ending the 200kph locomotive hauled parcel service. The service will be replaced with a 160 kph Intermodal service. The service was as much a victim of its own success as the limited capacity of the train could not cope with the demand, and the paths on French LGVs ( high-speed lines), was a little too dear for anything less than a fully loaded train. This service is not to be confused with SNCF's service for La Poste using special purpose TGVs, and the mooted service for UPS.
