Big stories - 2010
Posted by switch7frg on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 9:11 PM

Whistling   With all the stories of ( bottom lines )  and incidents of board room cartoons, the one sticks in mind  is the Engineer who tried to save the wooden trestle from a fire. A molten hot bearing was found 2 or 3 freight cars behind the  engines . Engineer or conducter called dispatch while crossing trestle.   Dispatch said " stop" and engineer said he had to cross over the trestle to get burning car  on road bed. Disp. would not hear of that . Engineer said trestle will burn.  Disp. said " rules are rules  stop"  HEH HEH .  Crew bailed .  Trestle and engines  along with a number of cars  up in fire. ~~~~ Wonder how much that cost the Head shed.   Common sense was overruled by Hmmmmm.  Did heads roll for that??

It was either a bridge or the whole county that was gonna burn. They made a smart choice. Read the thread we already have on this topic.
