The Federal Government has given NJ an official bill of over $271m for work done on the ARC tunnel project. NJ Governor Chrstie has now enrolled a law firm to fight the bill. What are the chances Chrstie will win? What are the chances the lawyers will win big no matter what? What are the chances the taxpeyer will be screwed no matter what?
Edit: corrected $$$ from 171M to 271M

None. "It ain't their first rodeo" for the Feds with local politicos who want to take the money and use it for something else. Christie didn't have and hasn't made any friends in the Obama Administration with this stunt, and doesn't have a compelling need or claim on the money otherwise.
Small. The Federal lawyers are on salary or hourly if outside, so there won't be any %-based fee for them. Christie won't win, so the same will apply to his lawyers - the most they'll get is a high hourly fee.
Which taxpayers ? Nationwide - small chance; NJ - large risk.

Whether taxpayers see a loss or gain from this is small potatoes compared to the way this country is bleeding money right now, so the taxpayers won’t feel it one way or the other. When the Titanic went down, nobody worried about leaving the lights on.
But if it were only the dollars and only now. If NJ'ers can't get to NYC for jobs, then what happens to NJ's economy? And that's only the miniscule openiing of the problems.

Many could (and should) telecommute.

Telecommuting is a very over used term and a way of working which is not really productive. Employers think they like it because they think they don't have to pay for overhead. Employees like it because they think they don't have to put up with employers. But in the long run there are so many busiesses that need a collective presence of employees that telecommuting is just a term. Reality is face to face, hands on operations, yield more than wandering around Cyberland. And as time moves along, there will be more jobs not in Cyberland but perhaps for Cyberland and all other practices we know and there will have to be offices, factories, and the efficient transportation system to access them.
What's interesting about this matter is that Gov. Christie and other state officials in other states act like Federal money has no strings attached and can be used at their own discretion. Gov. Christie may be just the first who's in for a rude awakening.
On the contrary, CSSHEGEWISCH, I think they know full well what they are doing and saying. The idea is to make the Federal governent look bad in the eyes of taxpayer because they "attach strings" to the money they give states and others. Of course these are the same group who complain about rampant Federal spending with no oversight. They don't want you to think, just react to what they say. They are hoodwinking and mesmerizing the taxpayers into confusion so that they can take us for fools. Its in the tea leaves, not the tea!

2- What famous North American landmark is constantly moving backward?
I think the answer you're looking for is the Statue of Liberty; but I suspect there are others.
3- Of all vegetables, only two can live to produce on their own for several growing seasons. All other vegetables must be replanted every year. What are the only two perennial vegetables?
Asparagus (previously posted) and rhubarb.
4- What fruit has its seeds on the outside?
The strawberry.
I we must answer the questions posted which have nothing to do with the topic, let me make it part of the topic. The correct answer to #2, the North American landmark constantly moving backwards is: The United States under the influcence of the likes of Christie and the Tea Party! Close your eyes and ears to what has to be done, turn your back on the needs of business and population, and destroy what has been done. Is George Washington for President backwards enough for them?
Now, tell the truth. The questions were posed just so as to bait one like me into explaining things as they are, weren't they?
