White line fever.

  Hi guys.

Do Engineers get what we truckers call white line fever? It is a mesmerizing effect of long hours on the road where you can't seem to remember going the last 100 or more miles but you made it to your destination. How much of an effect does it have with running signals, grade crossings without sounding the horn and safety in general? What do you do to snap out of it? I imagine it would be worse for you guys because you just can't pull over and take a break. It is not really a fatigue problem because your wide awake and may even have a conversation with someone on the CB or radio. What do the railroaders call it?
