.....Just looking at the sizable mountains behind the train, one can wonder how the surveyors got up and over it....perhaps part of it was, through it. And maybe a break in the mountain to allow passage thru along side of a river. And of course, it's a nice B/W photo.

It's obviously a good shot. There's interest in the train, the background, the plows and obviously that salt and pepper smoke/steam plume. It seems a little soft to me, but that's probably just the scan since it was a film shot. It's also a little contrasty for my tastes...but it's probably the same as our differing views on saturation in color shots.

Thats a lot of smoke for an oil burner, or are they burning tires? Now isn't that a far better looking locomotive than that "royal" hudson thing. I only see one plow.

I like both the streamlined and non-streamlined Hudsons! They both have a lot of charm.
They second plow's behind the first one, you can see it a little bit looking at the cupolas.
