BNSF Pumpkin in the Carolina's

Folks have talked a lot about seeing UP engines down in the deep south or up in the Northeast. But during the labor day weekend, I was in Fayetteville, N.C. and I saw a BNSF Pumkin on the branch line from Fayetteville to Fort Bragg, N.C. It was a single unit pulling about 20 to 25 empty flat bed trailer cars behind it. I was to far to get an engine number but it was a BNSF GE unit. I thought I had seen it all but a pumkin in the heart of CSX and NS country. Folks I have talked to have said that line is being used 7 days a week since the war begin. A lot of equipment is being transported from the base to the ports in N.C.

Excuse me for my curiosity, but what is a BNSF pumpkin?[?]

It's that bright orange paint scheme on the engines. Reminds you of a Pumkin. I'm not sure how many were painted in the scheme. Probably some of the BNSF fans can give you a better idea. You can also go to http://www.a-trains.com/ and click on BNSF videos and you will see some of those Orange Pumkins on the cover of some of their videos.
