Decided to clean off the desk part of the roll-top desk. It's been little more than a catchall. I'm having no problem filling up the trash container when I embark on these quests...
Found a bunch of pictures, too. Not too many of trains, though.
Cleaned out one drawer. The rest can wait.
Not one for Chinese food, so I'll just hit the a la carte line...

Mookie, the suggestions you made are 'right on track' for tonight. That is what you all will find on the warmer bar. And, how about fortune cookies for dessert? I believe you might find that on the serving station, also. Do you want plain fried rice, or do you want with beef, pork, shrimp, chicken are which of the above?
And, if anyone doesn't want Chinese, or care for it, there is a selection of spaghetti casserole, w/sides, open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters, gravy, etc., of which you can partake.
Sorry Cw - short person running around here distracted me. Yes - I want the whole enchilada.....umm- maybe that isn't the right terminology...??
Yum.
And fortune cookie so I know what to expect, just never when....
Thanx!

Good Thursday morning, everyone. I hope you alll had a very nice evening. Are any of you watching any of the Olympics? I have to admit, I've not watched much of it, just bits and pieces here and there.
We are starting out this morning with a nice 25, 26 degrees, and our high today will be about 10 degrees higher, at around 35, 36 degrees.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are all fresh and ready to go. And on the serving station this morning: bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage links and patties, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, oatmeal, toast, blueberries, pancakes.
You all have a good morning, keep warm, safe and take care.
Good morning, Paula. 28 deg and clear a half hour before sunrise. I woke up early and have been killing time on the computer, waiting for nap time..... I am not one for the Olympics. Never had much of an intererst in them, but even if I did have, our TV can't be got too. Larry thinks he's got a mess, but when the wife's shop went under, all the stock landed right here. Honestly, a dumpster would not be out of order for the place. If we had to get out in a hurry while it's dark, likely something would get scraped or stumped!
Thanks for breakfast, and have a great day
Tom

Walt and I did that awhile back: rented a dumpster, and loaded it twice with a whole bunch of unwanted junk. If we wanted to, we could probably rent one again, but don't think we have that much left to get rid of now.
For the afternoon, and tonight, here's what we have on the serving station:
1. Leftover Chinese from last night: the won ton soup, and sweet & sour pork
2. Your choice of burgers or cheeseburgers, w/your choice of fries or onion rings, tossed salad
3. Spaghetti & meat balls w/tossed salad and garlic bread
Our current temp is already in the middle 30s, with plenty of bright sunshine, and just a tad bit of a breeze out. Maybe we can get rid of some of this snow, before the rain/snow mix comes in tomorrow night/Saturday morning.
Everyone have a good afternoon ,and take care.

.....Yes, we have almost 40 degrees this afternoon....! Overcast most of the day with just a bit of sunshine earlier. But the good news is, it's actually melting this long term snow that's been on the ground since Feb. 6th.

Heh... if it weren't for bad luck, we'd have no luck at all!
We've got the sun on our side at least, now if we could just get rid of this arctic air mass that's camped over us, we might actually start seeing some bare ground around here!
Afternoon all.
School went well. Got into a bit of trouble for being in the wrong place, and the wrong time. Just have to say sorry to a teacher that’s all. Needless to say I won’t be around those kids any longer.
Were sitting pretty at 35*F right now. Look for more snow this weekend. I know one thing Brian, us here in western Indiana can’t wait to get this snow off the ground. It is turning BLACK! I can’t imagine the way you poor folks are feeling!
CW, I’m watching the snowboarding after I check the forums. Watched the speed skating last night. Glad to see the Grand Old US of A is # 1 in gold medals!

Got home just in time to watch it dump snow in big heavy, wet flakes. (Which will cover our November snow that has been hiding in the shadows) Willy gets off the hook - this time. Lurch got a bath and an oil change this morning....I should have known. I get to trade that Illinois and Nebraska salt for Colorado IceSlicer chemical on Lurch's paint job.
Time to go raid the hot cider supply.
Olympic snow-shovelling anybody?
Glad to hear you made it home safely, mudchicken!
Our official high got to 37 degrees today, but our outdoor thermometer showed 42 degrees this afternoon, around 3, 4 p.m. Most of our snow is gone from the front yard; just a couple of patches left, one being in the front flower bed, where the shoveled snow from the sidewalk went.
Everything has been refreshed on the serving station. Including plenty of hot cider for you, mudchicken!
Now, I think I'm going to fix myself a plate. Getting very hungry.

From the same storm that gave Omaha about 14 inches. Tomorrow, our official observing station will break the record for the greatest number of consecutive days with an inch or more of snow on the ground. It's been quite the winter! And we're going to get 2 to 4 more inches tomorrow, just in time for my drive to school.

mmphffff..........good supper.....
Sir Chicken - did you see a Lady Scott won AKC Grand Championship? Did the boyz get to see her and did they whistle?
3-5 more snow starting tonite. So everyone east of Denver - here we go again. NE is dumping ash on the Platte River to break up the ice so it keeps moving. Wonder if I can get an old Dash 9 from our diesel shop to blow some of their smoke into the clouds - would it stop the snow and make it move over to Brian (IA)? (Don't tell him....)
Joe - it is Friday nite. I am done short people watching until Monday. A 3 day weekend!
If you understand hockey at all - the USA women's team is great!

Snowing and mixing with ice here.
Warning Diningcar here that I'll be invading the far SE corner of his state soon.

Snow keeps filtering down here, but nothing significant. On the way home from a meeting tonight, however, I encountered one small section of road with drifting 4-6" deep. Given the nature of drifted snow (rather like sand), and the wheel tracks all willy-nilly in the snow, I gave the town highway super a call. As I was walking the dog a short while later a town plow came by and headed in that direction.
Better they get called out than me, after someone puts their vehicle on its top there...
Gotta go over an SOP for the fire department, then maybe some WII, then bed.
We are somewhat in the doldrums, weather-wise, here. Lately, the lows have been in the thirties and the highs have been in the upper forties. We were promised snow today, but all we saw was a few minute flakes on the windshield this afternoon as we were coming back from an appointment Ricki had with one eye doctor (she got a shot to combat macular degeneration in one eye).
This morning, I went to see my colon doctor, who simply greeted me when he saw me in the hall; his nurse looked me over, gave me some words of advice, and said that I no longer had any restrictions on lifting, but be careful (while the doctor was working on my major problem last month, he also took care of a bad hernia that I had). I go back there in June. So, it looks as though we will be able to take a trip this spring.
Johnny
Good Friday morning, everyone. Our temp this morning, is a little bit cool, somewhere in the 20s, looking for a high around 40 today, with plenty of sunshine.
Mookie, I know you're looking forward to some time off from grandson, even though you love him very much. Kids do zap the energy out of you, don't they?
Johnny, good to hear you got a good report from your post op checkup. How's Ricki doing, after her shot?
Coffee, juices, hot cider, hot chocolate, hot water for tea are all fresh and ready to go. On the serving station this morning: some bagels, bear claws, and our usual Friday assortment of danish and doughnuts.
Well, Mookie, here's your coffee mug, clean, and ready for coffee to be poured into it. Everyone have a good morning, take care, and I'll see you all later on this morning.
Good morning. We are open for business so check out the eats on the warmer bar and buffet line. Enjoy!
27 and clear in Carolina a half hour before sunrise. It is expected to get up to 52 later with partly clear skies. Everyone have a great day.

Joe, do NOT REPEAT NOT give him aspirin under any circumstances
Morning all.
Thanks for the breakfast Tom it’s a nice treat! Were warming up here in Western Indiana. Not to melt anything, but it is a nice change from 13*F!
Have a safe day.
Good morning to all......We're a bit warmer here in eastcentral Indiana this morning...17 degrees earlier. But, with bright sunshine and I believe we will be melting snow today. Normal rise in temp from morning to late afternoon normally is about 20 degrees, so that should put us in the melting snow bracket later today. We sure did yesterday with almost 40 degrees.
It's a bit difficult to imagine the chances are pretty good that I'll be mowing the yard late next month.....How's that for looking towards Spring. Oh my, and I'll be a year older by then too.....Time is flying. But I'm glad and thankful i'm still here....
Good morning. We barely have 22 degrees here in Gillette, Wyoming, and I think I am going to be here for at least another two weeks.
Yesterday my sister and I made the drive up to Sheridan to see my neice, and Sheridan itself is about an hour and 45 minutes from Gillette. Sheridan sits within a valley which is surrounded by the Bighorn mountain range, and was served by one of the predecessor roads of today's BNSF, the Burlington Route, or CB&Q.
While in downtown Sheridan yesterday afternoon, I discovered a Burlington Route O5-A class 4-8-4, #5631 sitting next to the BNSF mainline, and it is surrounded by a chain link fence. It is situated so that it is pointing toward the north, and appears to be in real good condition, at least cosmetically. I got a few pictures of it with my Nikon and a wide angle lens, and then I turned around to get a shot of a BNSF empty coal train which was rolling past me, and at that point my camera's shutter locked up on me! #@$#!!! I don't know, I simply may have a dead battery. I own two of the same Nikon camera bodies and they should both go into the shop for an inspection and repair.
My sister and I might bake cookies this afternoon, and she might put me to work in her kitchen baking bread or dinner rolls. And for tonight we are going to have pizza.
The snow failed to materialize here, for the most part. We didn't even get an inch of accumulation. There's another chance on Sunday, and it looks like that storm could bring a bit more.
The next two weeks will be busy for me as the third quarter of the school year ends. I have a sociology exam, Spanish exam, and calculus exam next week, followed by a psychology paper, psychology exam, and world literature exam the week after. Then spring break. It never fails that the professors try to pile everything on at the end.
Willy - I will send a trainload of snow up to you. I think we got at least an inch of new, and I am not a happy unit. Isn't there a way you can stop this nonsense?
