Good Monday morning, everyone.  I hope you all had a very nice weekend.  I know this will be a short work/school week for some of you here.  As usual, the Cafe/Diner WILL BE OPENED THANKSGIVING DAY!!  Sarah and I will be in the kitchen cooking up a storm.  So will want a head count for those who will be around here Thursday.  (I know some of you guys (and gals, too) will be more interested in the ball games that will be on Thursday afternoon/evening, but you can make an effort to come by.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate and hot water for tea are all fresh and ready to go this morning.  On the breakfast/warmer bar this morning:  turkey bacon, pork sausage, scrambled eggs, oatmeal, toast, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, along with the usual bagels and bear claws.

Wonder how Larry is doing this morning, after his busy weekend with the railroad.  Weren't they starting their Polar Express this weekend, too?

You all let me know, if there's anything special you want for lunch/supper menu, and I'll fix it.  Meanwhile, you all have a good morning, be careful going to work (for those of you who still have to go to work in the mornings), keep safe and take care.

HOWDY DOODY NEIBGHORS!

Have been busy with school lately. Layout has been getting some work done to it. Also have been getting ready for Thanksgiving. Glad to be back in here.

Paula, I’m glad to eat one of you wonderful Cheeseburgers again! Thank you!

In other news, I got back from an indoor climbing gym in Indianapolis yesterday. It’s called Climb Time Indy. Us Boy Scouts went there this weekend. I got to repel, it freaked me out at first, but I was ok after about 2 times of doing it. Also with Boy Scouts, I’m now a Second Class scout, working on First Class.

I’m getting better at soldering rails together. It’s easy once you mess up a couple times. I’m going to have 3 Thanksgiving’s this year in one day. One at my church, one at my dad’s side of the family. (Which is about 50 ft. from NS’s ROW!), and one at my house with my mom’s side of the family. Going to be busy! Anyway, If I don’t get back on the forum this weekend….. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!

Justin

Well, it's been a very quiet day.  And, since it's been so slow in here today, our Sunday Dinner will be:  hamburgers and cheeseburgers w/garden salad and fries.

Haven't even heard any train horns today.  What a bummer. Sad Thumbs Down

Good morning. 49 degrees and overcast this morning, looks like it's gonna rain bullfrogs soon. I just got up, and gonna take a nap after breakfast. Yeah Paula, youngsters these days don't show much descretion. They seem to think they are invulnerable, and tragically, some find otherwise. . Gotta run, so everybody take care.

......37 degrees and bright sunshine pouring thru my eastern office window this morning.....Clear skies, and it appears it will be a pretty nice seasonal day.

Glad you managed to get your turkey home safe Paula.....That sounds a bit scarey, your description of the young girls.  What next....!

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  Yes, Sarah and I had a real adventure, riding the bus with about ten pre-teen and teenage girls!  A couple of them even tried to play "chicken" in the traffic on very, very busy Shelbyville Rd., in the eastern part of the county. Believe you me, my heart was in my throat!  But we managed to get the turkey and several other things for Thursday.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.

On the warmer bar this morning:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits & sausage gravy, and caramel pecan rolls (some people call them pecan sticky buns).

It looks like this may be the last really beautiful day for awhile around here:  rain will be rolling in later this evening, and into the next few days, it looks like it'll only be off and on showers, nothing too heavy (hopefully!). So guess we'd all better make the most of this day, keep safe and take care, going to Church, work, or railfanning today.

Hmm, looks like it's been a very slow day in here today; guess with the nice weather for this time of year, people must have been out Train Watching. I had several things to do around the house, so I didn't get to get out for that myself. CW and Sarah are still out, they had to go pick up some things for this next week and had to ride the bus for today's errands as the Jeep is in the shop with differential problems.

So I guess I get the privilege of putting out the pizzas for tonight, they are as follows:

1.   Cheese

2.   Canadian Bacon

3.   Hawaiian

4.   Goetta

5.   Supreme

6.   Chef's Special    (and she wouldn't say what it was either!)

.....We have overcast skies this morning....Weather people promised it was to be bright and sunny both today and Sunday....I'll keep watching for it.  Mod. seasonal temps and dry....mid 40's now.

Edit:  Yes, later now....mid 50's and sunshine.

Our morning paper has a whole page devoted to "Comcast to take over NBC Universal".....That is just a bit shocking to me.  TV is saturated with Comcast advertising now and what might that bring.  We are on Comcast here for TV Cable and of course hi speed computer connection.  Have not really enjoyed communicating with them on questions regarding their prices and other operations.  One exception....Just about a week ago, I finally worked back and forth with a lady at Comcast about a problem with our new "all in one"  printer, scanner and copier machine.....Really got rid of former printer {HP}, because it too was not copying correctly anything I tried to copy on our email....So had a back in forth {like Instant messenger}, with an employee there in trying to overcome that problem, because the new "unit" has done the same thing.   She was very nice and we worked back and forth until we actually did get the problem solved.  But that's the first time I've really had success in communicating with them regarding a computer problem.

So beyond that.....Everyone have a good pre Thanksgiving weekend.

Well, the case is solved and the puppy returned to a most grateful owner. Her name is Roxie, she is a highland terrier and likes to climb fences. So there ya go. Brisk outside this morning, looks like a nice day, but will spend a lot of it on the wireless. Too bad I can't set up under a tree somewhere and have the best of both worlds

On my way out de door - have some shopping and train watching to do.  Nice day in true midwest.  Frosty but sun shining.

Won't be in for supper.  Having two chickens for supper.  Sir Mud and Boss Hen are traveling and roosting for nite very close to Lincoln.  Actually, we are having Italian (yum) along with the chickens.

Will pass out hugs from the diner!  Approve

Well good morning everybody. 44 degrees and fog in Carolina this morning. We had surprise in the yard this morning. There is a rather pretty but very dirty female dog inside the fence. She seems friendly. I don't see how we can afford to adopt a third daughter, but first. let's see if she can find her way out like she got in. Tonight is BBQ rib and seafood night, so I will be a no show tonight. Everyone take care

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  Gee, it looks like we had a very slow night in here last night.  Beginning to see daylight here, no sun yet, skies just lightening up so far.  It doesn't feel too bad outside, our high today is to be around 58,60 degrees with sunshine.  I'm not sure what our current temp is.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are ready to go, and the coffee and juices are freshly made.

You all will think you're visiting The Cracker Barrel Restaurant this morning, when you see what's on the warmer bar:

Country fried steak, fried taters, scrambled eggs, grits, bacon, sausage, pancakes, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, toast, blueberry muffins, oat bran muffins.

You don't have to eat everything on the menu (you'd fall asleep if you did that), but there is a wide selection, so you can have plenty of fuel in your stomach tank to get you through whatever errands, plans you have for the day.  And I'll see you all back here tonight, for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest.  Guess I'll just make up two large pizzas each of the regular pizza menu.

Everyone enjoy your breakfast, be safe and take care, and have a great day.

Good afternoon and thanks for the shrimp dinner. At present, 64 and sunny in Carolina. Nice and the girls tend to want to stay out. One of my former employers, Palmetto GBA, which is part of BC/BS lost a contract and has begun layoffs, according to yesterday's news. When it rains, it pours. On a brighter note, Boeing broke ground yesterday on a new plant in the Charleston area, which is to bring in 4000 jobs initially and including subcontractors, 8000 more. How that will affect us in Florence is anybody's guess. For now, that's it. Take care and stay safe

Breezy and damp (and cool) in the wilds of NNY.  At least the past few days have been extremely pleasant - I've had a lot of outside work to do at work (and still have some, but we'll muddle through).

Busy weekend on the railroad.  I'm working a Holiday Train Saturday Morning, then I become "stationmaster" at Utica Union Station for the Polar Express trains Saturday and Sunday evenings.  Plus working on the trains.  Should be interesting...

Good Friday morning, everyone.  Sorry it's taken me so long to get in here this morning, but it seems like the browser is working kind of slow this morning.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are ready to go.

On the warmer bar this morning:  some bagels, bear claws and an assortment of doughnut, danish and muffins.

You all enjoy, have a good morning and take care.  (Current temp here is 40 degrees, with a little bit of patchy fog, except across the river in Jennings Co., IN, where schools are delayed for two hours because of very dense fog.)

Cannonball......That's a fresh one on me.  Have never seen such an animal.  I would suppose one could just go ahead and close your eyes when required to do any backing up....Probably would have about the same luck of putting it where they wanted it.

Quentin; I remember the dark blue Eastern States Standard Oil   tankers with the steerable rear tandem axles. Wierd looking when turning a corner. They were great for getting into smaller stations . I think the tractor was a WhiteJt. 9000. Also they were a bear to back up, because just the front axle on the trailer was articulated . OH the FUN and Joy watching them back up LOL.

                                                   Respectfully, Cannonball

Same reason they put those gates around a cemetery.  People are just dying to get in - and always around!

And, there is a cemetary in Bristol, Tennessee, just across the state line from Bristol, Virginia; no one living in Virginia may be buried in it.

Back to ESSO--my oldest brother began working for Standard of New Jersey (ESSO) when he finished his graduate school work, and he worked for the same corporation and its successors until he had to retire on account of his health. He worked at the refinery in Baton Rouge. So, I bought ESSO gasoline when I could.

Yes Quentin, ESSO was a great company. Remember the EXTRA KICK with hta?

Yea, Tom......and "A tiger in your tank".....Atlas tires, with a great guarantee.....Golden Esso....Esso Extra.....And of course just plain Esso. Our station was built in 1938 and serviced rt. 30 that passed thru and {1938}, bypassed our little town, which is where our station was located.

Back then The ESSO operation {Standard Oil}, was highly regarded as a quality product.

My Mom used Esso Extra in her big Pontiacs.  My Grandma used Esso Plus in her 49 Hudson.  My Grandpa...He put Gulf in his '51 Henry J.
