Jeaton,

I KNOW you are one very PROUD papa. Wouldn't mind hearing her and them myself. [:I]Sorry, Jeaton: I failed to notice the "step" in your sentence. But imagine
you feel as if she's your daughter, so you probably ARE a proud papa, right?[:)][:p]

Joe,

Do you big metal spoons or big wooden spoons for Matt? Have both on hand.

Now, let's see about some breakfast for everyone:

We'll have all the regular breakfast item: bacon, eggs, sausage, gravy, biscuits, oatmeal, coffee, juice, pops for those who don't drink coffee or tea, and MILK for
Matt. Also have cold cereal.

Perhaps La Mook would do better with some poetry:

School's Out

The house is quiet
Only the ticking of the clock
The random barks of a watchful spaniel
(She 'protects' most of the neighborhood)
And my own labors
Mar the stillness.

Suddenly, with a roar and a hiss
The bus arrives, and as quickly departs
Leaving behind two gleeful children
Who race, shouting, to the house.

Exploding through the door
They pummel me with notes
And papers
And all the news of their day
In a mere five minutes
And are gone.
Off to play.

OK... Misread violist as violinist, and figured if she was learning from a principal violinist it would be the violin, and it's only a short trip from there to fiddle...[swg]

The famous American masterpiece "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" was written by the noted composers Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs.

Locomutt - I have a practice chanter (it's the part of the bagpipe you actually play) and can work through a couple of tunes with it, but I really do need the lessons, so if/when I get a full set of bagpipes the caterwauling won't be any worse than anybody elses...[;)]

One part of the local French Festival parade that I really enjoy is the 5 or 6 pipe bands that usually participate. The "massed band" that usually occurs after the parade can turn into a nasty mess, though. 34-40 bagpipes... Think about it.

Another part of the French Festival I enjoy is the pastries....

I know what you mean. [:(!] [V] [:(]

Sasha was so loving and didn't in any way deserve what happened to her. She became so weak she wouldn't eat, she fell down the concrete steps trying to go potty outside, then was even too weak to go outside. All she did for her last few days (Tuesday AM to Thursday AM) was lay on the floor, she was even too weak to get up on the couch. That Thursday AM we went to a specialist who could "look" inside her lungs. My regular vet said there were about 4 choices 3 of which they could deal with. The specialist found out it was the 4th choice and nothing could be done. It was unreal how quickly she went downhill. That last 3 or 4 days was just hell. I never had any trouble from her. She was just tooooo good, she really was. I cannot praise her enough. I miss her so. [:(]

On the way to the specialist she laid her head on my shoulder. The look in her eyes was nothing but love. I think she knew how bad she was. It was all sooo sad, so very, very sad. There will NEVER be another Sasha. [:(] [V] [:(!]

Hmmmmmmm - Yankee pot roast, etc (sure, I'll cook, and I'm sure Duchess will take care of the pots and pans, anyhow), with some music!

I play a couple of stringed instruments, but with Carl's daughter's violin and Mook's piano, our trio would be better off playing bluegrass (I play guitar and a little banjo). Carl - does your daughter know "Foggy Mountain Breakdown"?

You're all lucky I've never had time to learn bagpipes...

No, the musical talent doesn't come from Carl, thankfully! Mother-in-law was a singer and pianist good enough to sing in symphonic choruses and to accompany other vocal and instrumental soloists. She probably would have had a real career had she gone to college beyond one year, but she instead lives it vicariously through her granddaughter.

Carl, on the other hand, took courses on music appreciation in school...so he can play the radio and CDs with the best of them.

I am reminded of a radio commercial I used to hear in Oklahoma City. The ad was for a pizza place, and consisted of a guy complaining about having liver and onions "every night" for supper. The problem, he said, was that it was liver one night and onions the next...

It WAS better heard first hand...

Yankee pot roast sounds good. Are you fixing it for us[?][:p]

Now, let's concentrate on BREAKFAST!! How about some oatmeal with whole wheat
toast? That sounds pretty good this morning!

BTW, we got lucky with the storms last night. They all hit well south of us. No flickering
lights, no storms in our local area, except in the southern part of the country. We just
had a nice, gentle rain.

The diet's reasonably intact...vigorous exercise helps.

Who's playing? The Grant Park Symphony Orchestra, of course! Daughter takes lessons from the principal violist. The nicest thing about their concerts (I mean besides the quality music) is that they're free. And the new music pavilion has to be seen to be believed!

What a sad story Jim, I remember when my first puppy got run over, it was so pitiful to see him crying and yelping as he died, something I'll never forget, I was only 6. But I'll always love that little Poodle named Sugar.

Well, tonight I'll take a nice slice of Coconut pie. Had a good day today. We got to go to Wisconsin Dells with my cousins who are up from New Orleans. We got to go on the Ducks, wich are boats that were used during WWII, and some were later used in Korea. They have I think about 50 ducks or so, maybe a little less, but they only use about 20 a day. They go on land and water, so they splash down in the Wisconsin River and on Lake Delton lake. It's a really neat trip, with the guide telling really corny but Funny jokes. It was really good day, as I said, so I'm a happy camper tonight. Also hoping the WSOR local comes tonight, so if he does I'll be happy there to.
