Loco kitbash - UP 6759 with CN cab.

UP 6759, a wrecked AC4400, is being repaired and overhauled at CEECO.  One the of things CEECO did was graft a cab from a CN loco onto the UP unit.  I presume the cab was from a CN GE too.  Should make a unique combination since CN GE cabs have a different style of front windows than standard GE cabs.

Not all of them.

All the CN C44-9's do, the cab came from a wrecked CN Dash 9. Only the latest batch of ES44DC's and the blue Dash 8's have the standard GE winshields.

Weren't the blue Dash 8s former LMX lease units?

No, all of the CN DASH 9's do not share the same cab style as already mentioned. The first 23 units, CN #2500-2522 are model C44-9WL and have a unique squared off nose profile and 4 piece windshield. LIkewise BC Rail has 4 of these same units. The cab/nose profile and 4 piece windshield is the same as that of the C40-8M's. Here is a link to a photo of CN #2509 to show its unusual appearance.

The cab of CN #2584 is what is being used to repair the wrecked UP #6759.

I thought the blue IC -8Ws were ex-Conrail units.

They were the LMS engines. (locomotive management system, aka Llamas). Leased part of the year to CN, and the other part to Conrail). They were split up between the two entities. They are beat, though and real junkers.

It's been fun.  But it isn't much fun anymore.   Signing off for now.

They have Dash 9's with both the original Canadian Saftey Cab and the porkchop window NA Saftey Cab.
