I was looking at Santa Maria Valley Railroad's newsletters and noticed some interesting information about UP operations on the Coast Line. A few years ago the cars for interchange to SMVRR were dropped off by the Manifest - West Colton to Portland (MWCPT). Then for some reason it was switched to the Intermodal - LATC* to Oakland (ILCOA). It seems rather odd that they would have an intermodal train drop of the non-intermodal cars. When the ILCOA was moved to the Bakersfield, Fresno, and (presumably) Tracy lines, they the train that drops off the cars to the northbound Oil Cans (ODOWP).
The MWCPT dropped them off at the yard/interchange at Guadalupe. The ILCOA dropped the cars off at Gemco (near the Van Nuys area of LA). Presumably they were taken by locals to Oxnard, then to Guadalupe. The newsletters do not say where the ODOWP drops them off.
It would be interesting to find out why UP changed from the MWCPT to the ILCOA. It seems like UP did switch the MWCPT to a valley routing also. Where there no other manifests going up the Coast Line?

* If I remember correctly LATC stands for Los Angeles Transportation Center, but I am not sure.
