Hey, Hey, Hey - don't be knocking my favorite pizza! Don't do the pepperoni - do chicken or pork sausage or beef and move to a city that does it right! [:p]

Ok, so who will put up the money to start it?

after that,... I'm In!

Larry an excellent RR themed pizza would be:

CN special: Actaul bits of old Cn locomotives tossed in with some of your favorite pizza! (peices are microscopic)
THE RR SPEACIAL: find the hiddn RR spike in your pizza, and you win a free one! odds in wining 1:6, spike non consumable..
the PENN RR SPECIAL: Peices of Rail, Ties, And spikes all on your favorite pizza!
The Conductor Special: have a Conductor serve it to your table while mumbling all of the signal aspects. Diverging Clear extra.

Don't like the service? blast the train horn located at the end of your table.

Yes we could start a restaurant based opn these principles.

Anyway, crews would phone or radio their order ahead, and pull up slowly to a window-level shelf for the rollby pick-up. Not sure how they paid...in advance with credit card or a company voucher maybe. Yes, a trackside pizza place with a full-blown RR theme would be neat. Gotta make its money off the non-railfan crowd too, but sure couldn't hurt to attract our special breed of customer.

In what is certainly not a unique situation, crews often stop at a convenience store near me. Park the train on the main and go for beans, if they aren't holding up other traffic.

The idea of a RR themed pizza shop does sound good, especially if real railroaders use it. Have to sell suitibly sized mini pizzas or by the slice, and breakfast pizza (use eggs and sausage vice the usual toppings) is delicious.

Let's talk pizza places near the railroad. Been to Famous Ray's in the basement of Newark Penn Station. (That's in New Jersey, for you West Coasters). Excellent stuff, you stand at a table, elbow to elbow, with the rumble of arriving/departing trains overhead. And to get there, you darn near have to trip over the homeless folks. Also been to Gatto's Pizza in Cheney, Washington. (That's in eastern Washington, not Washington D.C., and certainly not Washington STATE either, for you East Coasters.) Booths and open tables at the window have a clear view of BNSF and UP main lines, plus the lead track for the Palouse River & Coulee City's CW branch just a stone's throw away. You could snap a perfect train photo right through the window. Bar service, too. And finally, to stir the pot again and get this thread on its way toward deletion for sure, I suggest anyone who still has questions about Ron Brown's plane crash and its connection (as well as the documented connections of at least 40 other deaths) to Bill Clinton, go on down to the nearest Barnes & Noble, head for the Current Affairs section, and you'll find a nice new book on the subject.
Going to step over that open hole about Bill Clinton - but you have given me an idea for a new business - Mookie's pizza at trackside. I can't find a house close to the tracks, so open a pizza business - let the driver cook - hire a wait staff and Mookie can sit on the porch and watch the trains and greet people! Wow - what a concept!

WARNING

Motombo Ungawa is NOT a member of the my staff, he is an EVIL secret repesentative of the South American Killer Bee's that have invaded our county.

His goal is to corner the Honey market and open a string of cheap Indian casinos just across the border to drain Americans of their cash and get them hooked on his Killer Bee Honeyrolls.

This plan is of his is ILLEGAL in Bullshitania. Only the Royal Family can open casinos, Its OUR PLAN, DAMMIT! and we'll add the Honeyrolls as soon as the beesuits arrive... but we need your help to buy them, so please send those account #'s[;)]

Please allow me to introduce myself, sir. My name is Motombo Ungawa and I was formerly the chief aide to the Crown Prince of Bullshitania. The crown prince is in grave danger of being deposed, and I have been entrusted to locate a safe bank account in the United States for $46 million U.S. Currency. If you can help, please send me your bank account and a pizza...........[(-D]

Please note. The solicitor who has contacted this thread earlier is a FRAUD and is trying to steal this money.

Forget to mention, the fishing is GREAT! All you got to do is just walk along the shoreline and pick up ALL YOU WANT! Yes sir-re bob! And when you get tired of the fishing hunting is even easier, just kick back on your front porch with both barrels of Ol' Betsy loaded and wait for "dinner" to come down from the bushes to the shoreline for the free fishplate, all ya gotta do is train Old' Yeller to fetch it after you've plugged 'it! Them critters' is good eatin'.

Wel I might as well just post this here, this was originally on the "get rich quick" thread before it got nuked, I thought it was a humorous reply to a humurous reply from Macguy,

"QUOTE: Originally posted by macguy

I would love to play along, but right now I am helping a nice south african prince unload his riches into an offshore account before his country takes it from him.

He's gonna pay me a percentage as soon as the money is transfered, all I had to do was give him my account number.

I'll give this thing a try once I get my money from the african prince."

Hey Macguy,

I'm the Crown Prince of Bullshitania, a very small nation on the border between the US and Mexico, we have been invaded by the evil Killer Bees from South America and must abandon our beloved homeland until the invaders can bee expelled. Since you have experience with this process can you help me transfer the entire royal treasury of $10 million Bogarts, our National Currency, to a safe haven in the US, All I need is your personal checking and savings account numbers so I can transfer the funds, also your credit card numbers, and social security card numbers to help streamline the approval process, can you help me?

PS this offer is open to all you fools, I mean friends out there,

Please help Bullshitania rise again!

I'd rather have my thumb removed with a blunt object..

I'd rather stick my hand into a lawn mower ...

I'd rather have my reproductive system removed in a farm machine accident...

I'd rather stick my head into a rotating machine....

and finally..

I'd rather have my head set on fire, and have it put out with a sledgehammer..

Black Flag is about as MTV as having Bill Clinton speak at a Republican Fund Raiser! Pure hard as steel driven punk!

Cramps? see above...

SF bay area punk band Dead Kennedy's was sooo loved by the Los Angeles Police Dept that they drove all the way down to Long Beach, outside thier jurisdiction to raid a Kennedy's concert and start a riot by attacking the listeners.

Gratefull Dead, well as Jerry Garcia said, ".. if you can remember the 60's, you werent there.."

Cypress Hill, you can smell the Hip-Hop from here!

These are the bumper stickers that will get you pulled over by the CHP just because they dont like you. A Deadhead or a Cypress Hill sticker is like saying "I got Weed, I got Weed!"

and a Kennedy's sticker say's "I hate authority, and cop's hate me!"

And Black Flag will get you pulled over because listening at full volumn to the live album "Who's got the 10 1/2" is like having a electric guitar blasting at fighter jet decible ranges!

Oh i see, this is one of those Big inside jokes, that you had to see a certain movie to understand..

That would explain it.

So we got Dan talking in a weird voice, and Vic listening to "video killed the radio star" type of music.

No, I completely understand now.

Yeah.....<In the Office Space kind of voice> ...that'd be great. What I really need is to break up the monotony of my daily commute is a chat with CHP. Wasn't 1 May opening day of the road rage season?? I need to stop by Wallyworld and get some more ammo.....and speaking of road rage.......with the heat here the past few days....I found the long lost crayon in my car.......I now have a multi-color Husky liner.

Didnt you get hastled by the border guards at the Orange County Line? we always get that when ever we try to penetrate the "Orange Curtain" as its called here, especially when coming down thru LA county into the "Orange Zone"

Not this time...me and my "passengers" of questionable immigration status made it through this time. The trick is to make them all wear Chargers TShirts and hats....because no one that down in there luck should be hassled.

Never had a probelm in OC. Got grilled at the Riveside border crossing once and twice at the Yuma checkpoint. I guess the DOD sticker on my car wasn't good enough to prove that I actually was a citizen.

I find its real easy to make friends with the checkpoint guards and CHP officers if you have alot of Gratefull Dead stickers all over your car , or Dead Kennedy's, Black Flag, Sabbath, Cypress Hill, Cramps, you know, all them "popular" bands with cops [;)]

What next Vic?

i noticed at times when little spatts would occur they would grow cause of misunderstandings, lack of acceptence of others ,(not a lot of communication experience).every one is imperfect in some form of mind set ,so keeping this in mind people should be less critical of others.we are here to interact in a peacefull, non condeming way. there will always be those who like to ruffel feathers delibertly. i just consider the source. a imperfect human being like myself.and maybe pray for them to have some peace .cussing, not me. used to till i saw the light. spelling. never made it to a spelling bee. did you? i have a little common sense . most of time if someone misspells something you know right away 99 percent of time what it is. i am not paid to check spelling and embarass you. thanx trains for your kindness.

Ithaca is a name borrowed from a Greek city of the same name. The name is ancient. And no, no lisp involved although as a college town it does have it's share of alternative lifestyle types...

Having lived for a spell in Buono Italia, I must say that when it come to pizza, I now believe that simplier is better......quatro formaggio...sauce,garlic and four types of cheese....all one needs......you can feel the arteries hardening before it gets to you stomach.

But then again, like most things Italian....development stopped shortly after the original invention.

Kevin you would LOVE ordering Pizza here in LA, we got them fancy "Gourmet" pizza shops here where you can get everything never intended to be put on a pizza.

Some I've seen...

LOX and cream cheese pizza (order with extra capers)

Kung Pao Pizza ( watch those peppers )

BBQ Chicken Pizza ( Ed would like this one )

Jamaica Jerked Chicken Pizza ( Ya Mon! )

Carmelized Pear and Gorgenzolla Pizza (sweet and sour?)

Pastrami and Sauwerkraut Pizza (eeeeuuuwwwww!)

and

Peking Duck Pizza (why is there a duck head on my pizza? )

Bah. I hate mushrooms to- They make the pizza look rotten.

Ordered pixxa on the train once, then pthe passengers in the first car staged a protest, we has to share it with all of them, Told the pizza guy "i'm calling an hour in adavnce, Be at St anne-de-bellevue station at 6:08 exactly, otherwise, you've missed the train!"

Stopped and paid the guy, transaction took less then a minute, and had pizza all the way to the end station. (Except we had to share)

what.. i'm not the sharing type.. chip in or chip out, ok well i'll share, it depends with Whom, and what.. I can't believe i was just about to type that!

How's the van driving going? Your comment on no 'shrooms reminds me that we used to have a guy who drove for Ratzenberger back in the old days who couldn't take us anywhere without pizza. We never got him to bring us any but we stopped at every Sbarro enroute...

Dominoes just never delivered to us before.

After the cab ride, we havent had a problem with them since.

Now, if we can just get Boston Market and Red Lobster to deliver....

Pineapples on Pizza?

Your one of those people who eat maccroni and cheese mixed with tuna fish, arent you...

Nice work Ed. We always used a trainee to go fetch the pizza on our local jobs or the man with least seniority...

We got the pizza for free, turned out the manager delivered the pies, he was a railfan, we ran him up and down the track some, he wrote the pizzas off and a prank order.

For pete's sake:
(1) It has a swingset "in the yard".... (the yard doesn't move, just the "houses")
(2) It has its own police force (very safe)
(3) Can't deliver to the front porch of 9608? - Try 9620!
(4) It has its own very large treehouse out back!
(5) It's neater and safer than some of the dumps they deliver to just down Clinton Street!
(6) it has a garden even, a "wheel garden"!

I never could "dance on the carpet" very well Bergie. I guess I'm admonished though....

And Vic - if it was Pizza Hut - and I was there - you would have never made it to the lounge car. We would have been dining on aisle pizza!

Pinnapple Pizza...

HEATHENS!!!
PHILLISTINES!!!
BARBARIANS!!!

You can have ALL that pizza, I'll get my own thanks...

But when you see my steaming hot deep dish double crust 3 cheese, sausage, pepperoni, salami, olive, mushroom, tomato, and extra garlic pizza and then look down at that soggy pinapple laden piece of cardboard smeared with ketchup you ordered, you'll wish you hadnt 'dissed me, cause like my elementary report card said, "..doesn't play well with other children, and DOESN"T SHARE" especially when you mess with my Pizza ...[(-D]

Just an aside..I'll relate a TRAIN RELATED pizza story.. several years back when I took Jamtrack back to Iowa to visit relatives. On the return trip, 2nd day on the train, crossing Utah. I was talking to the people I had met on the train, we were talking about how bad the food was at the cafeteria car (we were all too poor for the Dining Car) and what food we would like to have, we all agreed a Pizza would be just the thing. Then someone had an idea, we had an hour layover in Salt Lake City coming up and what if we ordered a pizza?[:p]

Well that did it, we were for the next hour deciding a plan of action, who to call was answered when we came out of an under pass outside the staion and saw a huge billboard for a nearby Dominoes or Pizza ***, one of them. We got the number down, and as soon as the train doors opened we bolted out into the station to the first payphone, called, ordered 2 large, its almost midnight , and we told the pizza guy we would be waiting in front of the train station, he said "OK, we've done this before"[;)]

The pizza guy shows up. When we took the pizza's on the train it was like walking into a lions cage covered in raw meat! We thought the other passngers were going to riot, kill us, and take our pizza's for themselves! They looked at us with glazed eyes and drooling lips, we though we had stumble into a scene from Dawn of the Dead! So we hastedly retreated to the lounge car where we could enjoy our prize in peace.[8D]

   Have fun with your trains

So, Art, next time we come up, instead of 6th street, where do you suggest we start?
We will be a medium sized group, about 10 railroaders and their wives, and six employees of the AGs office, and their spouses and partners.
The AG office folks are light weight drinkers, after three hours they get a little fluffy...[^]

And I believe Canadian National has some rights, trackage or otherwise (they are partnered with KCS, I believe) from KC to Springfield (and maybe north to Joliet???)
And of course IC (read Canadian National) still owns the line from Joliet to Chicago.
Altho I worked for the north end of the GM&O, I always thought of it as the C&A.

If this was the 1870's, yes, Carrollton is on the JC, then the Alton Road merged that into its system. Roodhouse, which is a few towns north of Carrollton, was where the Alton's branch to Kansas City (Western Division) begins. When the GM&O bought the C&A, then the Illinois Central merged with the GM&O in the '70s, ICG didn't want the extra trackage. The Chicago-St.Louis main was sold to the SSW-SP, while the Western Division and the Springfield-Godfrey branch was sold to a startup company called the Gateway Western. In 1997 KCS bought the GWW, and still owns it today. I think BNSF has trackage rights from Jacksonville to Alton, too.

We can also do our part instead of depending solely on Bergie. When "Flaming" begins to occur on any thread, jump right in and post comments to encourage the "Poster-ers" to calm down and put on a "cool head".

Town lake freaks out the tourist, they never expect bats to live there.
The cave at Travis is best, more bats.
TP&Wildlife is doing another study, they want to establish a new coloney out in Bandera, near Medina Lake, they have taged and moved some bats, and are waiting to see if they stay.
And even with their natural radar, the bats still look both ways before corssing railroad tracks.

Bergie- I'm closer toAlton and Springfield than Galesburg or the Rock, but From my town you can get to the Quad Cities within 4 hours. In fact, i have relatives in Rock Island and I'm going to galesburg Railroad Days this June. If you know where Jacksonville is, Carrollton is a few towns south of there on the KCS's old Gateway Western tracks.

Hi Folks,
I need to fade my part of the heat, too.
And just so there is no mis-understanding(note I used a hypen)
I like railfans.
Been know to sneak their cameras into the yard and shoot a photo for some.
Have even sent a few goodies in the mail to a couple of y'all.
Stop by the North Yard, I might even find you a nice seat, and show you how flat yard switching is done.

But the one thing I have to impress on everyone reading this is...

If you do not work for my railroad, you do not belong on my train.
Period.
Because, even if it was your choice to sneak a ride, it's my responsibility if you get hurt, because it's my train.

For those of you who were offended by anything I wrote, blame me, not Trains.com.
I am sorry if I did offend some of you.
For those of you who took it personal, some of it was, but most of it wasnt.

And if you found it humorous, or funny, glad you got a laugh out of my being silly.

Thanks,
Ed

I agree Brian. [:)] There are a lot of folk in this Forum who have been a real help, and have been patient, particualrly with the downunder questions. [;)]

Hey bergie, If you haven't already, you should post this on the model railroader side of things, there've been a couple of arguments that have got heated there too, and I think they would benifit from this message too.

Just my 2 cents, Noah

Man- I always manage to print out the threads that don't dissapear.

Erik, I couldn't agree with you more- The deliverance of one's opnion is among one of the most important things on this forum.

Now i don't want to sound Sinner to preacher-

"I" messages! use "I" messages, Not your a loser, a moron, your mommy wears army boots... etc.

Your opinion is greatly diminsihed when your stuck using insults to make your point come across or "if i had been there"

and on a last note.. My hummanities teacher waers army boots, and she's a she. So i'll stop using that insult now.

I did indeed remove it. One small comment about someone else's grammar created an avalanche of negativity.

Let's keep this one on top for a while. Bergie - why not make it sticky?
