WGN radio in Chicago just reported a derailment on BNSF in Aurora and it sounds like it happened on the single track branch line that goes up to West Chicago between the Fox River and Illinois Rt. 31. Does anybody have any details as I won't be able to go see for myself today.

It's on the C&I -- just west of the Route 31 bridge, and it sounds like it happened where some of the cars could have came down off the fill into some of the backyards.
Ten cars on ground -- Nos. 21 to 30 -- of a 52-car container train bound for Seattle. Happened about 3 a.m. today. I think there's a passing siding there, along with some industrial spurs.
I love how in one paragraph the owner of the house says they have lived there 7 years and nothing like this has ever happened before, and in the next one the reporter states that there was a derailment in the same area 5 years ago.
Question from the story though. The owner of the house says she heard the train horn blaring before the crash. Could that be a sign the train was put into emergency which may have facilitated the crash?
Repairs complete, C&I line reopened at 10 a.m. today -- 18.5 hours after the time of the derailment.

Derailment Time (DT) = 3:00 AM 12/18/2008
Reopen Time (ROT) = 10:00 AM 12/19/2008
ROT - DT = 31 Hours
31 > 18.5
