Anyone work in the heavy haul railway industry?
Posted by Steve-O on Monday, August 18, 2008 7:35 AM

I don't suppose anyone on here works with the heavy haul industry by any chance?

I'm working for a large railway design company in england and i'm researching the trackform and components (along with common failures) that are required for heavy haul trains working around 40+ tonnes axle load, with an output of around 150-200 million tonnes per annum.

The closest existing mine that I can see to this sort of output is the one in Australia and I was wondering if anyone who has any knowledge of the track there could help me find out some information on what sort of trackform they use to achieve their massive tonnages.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

 Thanks for your time
