I want to post this information for all of our veterans that have served on or after 9/11 and the new GI Bill that is now signed into law. This link will explain the new GI Bill compared to the Montgomery GI Bill.

US ARMY INFANTRY RETIRED
Thank you for posting the info. I was about to track down the same info since there has been a little bit of speculation as to who is eligible and the criteria. My wife has been doing all her schooling through TAP, so we have been talking about her transferring some of this to me (she is AD Air Force/I did 4 active and 4 TXANG).
The only thing that I have heard a complaint about is a situation with an AF vet that I work with. He doesn't qualify because he did not serve enough time post "9/11". He interprets this being that service in the Armed Forces was not as important prior to "9/11". I can sympathize with this, but I don't know the exact details of how this was pushed through for approval. I am assuming they needed some sort of cutoff to be able to get this thing approved, and figured that using that particular date would do it for them.
Either way it is a great benefit for lots of folks, and was excited to see this!!!
Sargeant: "Well son, I've good news and bad news...."
Private: "OK, Sarge...What's the good news??"
Sargeant: "Good news is, Congress passed a new G.I. Bill with lots of great benefits for you when you get out of the Army!!"
Private: "Great! But what's the bad news??"
Sargeant: "Bad news is, with recruitments so low, you're never going to get out of the Army!!"
