Thanks.

What's with the part that says the LOCOMOTIVES weren't carrying hazardous materials?

Typical ignorance of things related to railroads by a news reporter.  The news media always inserts the topic of hazardous materials into every derailment story in an attempt at sensationalism.

I took some shots of the derailment on my way into work this morning. Here is a link:

Fortunately, nobody was seriously injured!

My website is getting hammered with traffic today! If it doesn't load, give it another try after a few minutes and it should be fine.

That's quite a derailment, and good photos.  Someone is going to get asked about that tree stump.

Yeah my phone lit up this morning. I was DH to Cheyenne yesterday and back today because of this lol.

I am glad no one was hurt too bad. It was almost a major disaster for al involved. That occured two miles north of where I almost hit that woman 2 weeks ago.So this area has been rather eventful lately.

I doubt it about being asked about the tree stump, The little Urchins line up huncks of concrete the size of a persons head along the rails, no one seems to care.

But we have Matt coming on thursday so I think this mess will get some attention....

It worked this time - nice pics!  I wouldn't have wanted to be there when that happened.

Great pics, Kevin! Thanks for getting them!

There's more links to the stories on my blog. The police (surprise!) haven't announced a suspect.

Did you almost hit the woman at night? Is that why the crews are using the horns "excessively" (according to a post on the news site).

Whenever there's a hit or a near miss around here they use the horns to "excess" for a while. Not that I mind.

Nah it was still pretty early. About 7 pm still daylight.Excessive was an understatement lol. I had my button mashed and the conductor had his button mashed as well!!! But excesive whistling in that area? There is the old Wadsworth crossing that they would have just gone over but I think they are complaining about all the crossings that are in the area. 88th street is a four laner and you know under FRA we have to blow THROUGH the crosing. Well the media doesnt know this nor do the normal people out there. I would like to do a media on the train day. Let a reporter run for a bit, and ride to see what its like.

Good pics at your site, it's a shame stuff like this happens because somebody was messing around.

Depending on the age, after they are found I would take the idiot or idiots and put them away for life. This could have killed someone.

Rumor was it was a couple 18 year olds. Move that stump about 500 feet north and they go off the curve and down the embankment and we KNOW someone would have died then.
