Train day on may 10th
Posted by overall on Thursday, April 10, 2008 7:24 AM

What are we doing for train day on May 10th? I was thinking a bunch of us could all take pictures of trains on May 10th and post them here or maybe in Flickr group. The only requirement would be that the photograph was of a train and taken on May 10th. We would get a snapshot of railroading all over the country on May 10th. Any ideas on this?

Have camera, will travel....(Not very far though, gas is way too expensive)

Hopefully I can go fanning at Rochelle on the May tenth weekend.

But if the weather ONCE AGAIN stymies my plans, I do have available a CSX stress reliever!  (CSX does not run thru Rochelle but it looked like a bargain at the time.)  - a. s.

May 10th 1869 was when the golden spike was driven at Promontory, Utah. It will be the 139th anniversary of this event. This will be a snapshot of railroading 139 years after that event if everyone will post a photograph taken on May 10th.

Flickr has a group devoted to photographing trains on may 10th. Here it is below. Get out on May 10th, take a picture of a train, and post it here. I'm not sure if this link will work. If you can't make this link work, go to flickr and search for the train day group.

Can't do much out of the ordinary that day, with both of us expecting to be working.  But will there be an afternoon gathering at Eola?  How 'bout Elmhurst?

(Sorry, Al; Rochelle's too far out for us this time.)

Colin, have a great time down there!
