Steaming Dutch webcam on busy mainline
Posted by beaulieu on Friday, January 4, 2008 3:59 PM

Here is a link to a streaming webcam on a busy Dutch mainline;

Helmond Webcam

The webcam is located on the mainline between Eindhoven (home of Philips Electronics) and Venlo on the German border.  This currently the main freight route from the Port of Rotterdam to the Ruhr and the southern half of Europe. Eventually the new Betuwe Route will superceed this route for freight.

The Dutch rail freight schedule available here will help to anticipate went freights will pass the camera.

Dutch Rail Freight Timetable

To read the timetable look for times at Venlo (Vl) and Eindhoven (Ehv).  For example;

Under DLC (Dillen and LeJeune Cargo) train 41792 runs Monday to Friday (ma-vr) departing Venlo at 23:47 and passes Eindhoven at 00:33. The train originates at Frankfurt, Germany and operates for Hupac (Bertschi) it terminates at Botlek Yd. in the harbor area of Rotterdam. The train is an Intermodal, look for the various types of marine containers on this train. Remember to allow for the time differential between the Netherlands and where you live.
