DERAILMENT blocks Amtrak 5 on former CBQ in East CO 10-11-07

I just found this interesting item on the Trainorders  Western board this morning.

This DERAILMENT is currently blocking the former CBQ mainline in far eastern Colorado.

I think that Amtrak should get this train pulled backwards to Hastings NE and detour west on the UP mainline thru North PLatte--Cheyenne--Rawlins to Salt Lake City.

At Salt Lake City they should rejoin the normal route.   This way Train 5 could get at least close to on schedule

Denver South Z-DENCHI rereoute
Author: Pinlifter

Due to a derailment that is blocking that mainline at Platner, CO, BNSF is rerouting its Z-DENCHI south from Denver along the joint line, then east from Pueblo. Platner is located a few miles east of Akron, CO along BNSF's main Denver to Chicago route. Amtrak #5 is being held at Yuma for now. Its stuck for now. There are also work trains enroute from Denver and McCook to the derailment. Also, Hulcher was seen around brush, CO at 0730 this morning. I'm not sure what they are going to do with the westbound Z or Amtrak this afternoon. If I get an updates, I'll post them. The Z showed a departure from South Denver at 0900.
