Got a couple of 'ok' pics last night. One nice crew even turned their lights on at my asking. Engineer on IC 6259 commented that I was the only one he'd seen taking pics of his train in the storm. Why let a little snow stop me? LOL! Here are the 'better' of what I got. Nothing to hang on the wall or anything.

Excellent photos... I especially like the last one.
I tried to get out to get some storm pictures yesterday, but by the time I got family stuff done, the snow had become rain, and the wind was whipping pretty good. Maybe next time.
Great photos though, Dan, I really like them.
Just saw my first KCS Southern Belle today, an SD70ACE, I believe.
Opinion: thinner yellow stripes along the long hood would work better, as would a real black (instead of their dark green, which looks like dirty black).
I informed my student that the units for KCSdeM would be "Taco Belles"; she thought that was hilarious.

Dan - All are excellent, but that last shot is a framer if you ask me. One of the best yet that I've seen you present. Thanks for sharing!
Carl - "Taco Belles?" I like it! Now if I could just get one of them buggers to head west...

Chris, that KCS unit was in a consist of light power just going toward the diesel ramp--I couldn't see the number, or I might have been able to find out where it came from and/or where it was headed.
I wish I could say the nickname was original, but it wasn't. Both railfans and railroaders are pretty good with catchy nicknames. Take our weekly perishable train: it was a railfan who nicknamed ZWASKP the "Salad Shooter", but it was a railroader who came up with the name for the track serving the originating warehouse in Wallula: the "Fruit Loop".
Ah, I just love snow photos.
This Amtrak shot by me, totally shrouded in snow. Taken just this morning... It's eastbound toward Chicago.
And here is one as he is approaching where I was standing...
....Tim, now that is a cold, blustery looking scene. Low light suggesting it really is Winter type weather.
Quentin
Thanks for the compliments Chris and Quentin.... We got a few inches last night, and was itching to get outside and get some photos. (I was hoping for a freight train, but, the Amtrack will do) It's nice having the tracks across the street! ...
We are supposed to get more snow tomorrow..... whoo hoo!

Somehow, I doubt that my Mom and Sisters (who live in your neck of the woods) will share your enthusiasm. Anytime I proclaim the joys of winter, I usually get an icy stare from them - how ironic!
Almost felt as cold as what I encountered at work (I was outside a few times today, including sweeping off switch machines). Nice shots, Tim!
You're in Hinsdale, right? I'm trying to picture your location.
Good morning! Today, December 7, 2007, is a day that will live in infamy.
Arguably one of the most lovable kittens--I mean, people--on the Forum is 1000000 years old today! Right, Brian?
Yes, we still need her, yes, we'll still feed her!
Happy birthday, Mookie!
Before Pat and I boarded the train for a hot (actually bitter cold) date in Chicago last night, UP sent ZSKWAP through town. That was the first time I've ever seen the empty (or mostly empty) perishable train.
Believe it or not, UP's loaded perishable train, ZWASKP, is limited to 50 mph because of its high tonnage per operative brake (I wonder whether they thought of tacking on a couple of empties to bring the speed up!). The empty train isn't bound by that regulation--it can do every bit of 70, and that seems to be just about how fast it was going through town when we saw it!

The proper way to denote that is 1000000b, which indicates that that is a binary number. Other than that, I'll take your word for the actual value. I would've guessed younger.

That is certainly a festive occasion! Happy b-day to Mookie.
I may get the chance to take pics on the ELS again this weekend. I'll try for some video of their SD9s working trains. What a neat sound!
Thanks to Chris / CopCarSS for my avatar.
Brian - you just made my day!
I have never made a secret of my age - since I am a darn sight older than most of the posters on here.
I am two years younger than Pearl. Harbor that is.....

Is the Spaghetti Bowl carry-out place still along the tracks there?
