Need Help Finding Railway Age Article on South Bend Union Station
Posted by spe3376 on Monday, August 20, 2007 8:54 PM

Hello All:

I need some help finding an article in an old issue of Railway Age magazine.  I'm looking for an article on the construction of South Bend Union Station from an issue of Railway Age from the late 1920's or early 1930's.  What I'm looking for is either the issue and year for the article or a source for an article index where I can search.  I need a specific issue date and volume number to get a copy from the Harold Washington Chicago Public Library - they have Railway Age back to the late 1890's (in one form or another) but I was told that they are all in "Off Site Archive Storage."  Retrieval could take up to 20 weeks.  I tried calling the people at Simmons Boardman who currently publish Railway Age, but I was either rudely disconnected or banished to un-returned voice mail land.  Are there any transportation libraries here in the Chicago area?  Do I have to be a member at IRM to use their library?  Thanks for your help...
