My best day would have to be in July 1982 when I spent about 8 hours at Jamaica on LIRR, which was the real hub of the system.  Lots of MU cars, a handful of freights, and diesel-powered push-pulls with GP38-2's or MP15AC's on one end and de-motored FA1's or F7A's on the other end.  Watching three trains pull into the station to swap passengers was something that amazed me to no end.

The daily commute is part of everyday life but I get two rides a day out of it. Paul
