So three of the UP Heritage Units are enroute to Chicago.  Apparently they will be running between Chicago and Council Bluffs for about a week or so and then head back west.

They're somewhere west of Boone at sundown tonight.  They spent most of the day between Grand Island and Fremont, for whatever reason, but once they got going I couldn't get 'em to hold still long enough in Omaha for Willy to catch them.

I'd heard that they're going to spend a little time at the Western Heritage Museum (former UP passenger station) in Omaha later in the month.  Don't know whether that's still the plan.

The CNW heritage engine has now departed Roper heading for North Platte. I am thinking once it gets to North Platte, it will probably head to Proviso on another MNPPR. The trio is now heading through Iowa and is due to arrive Proviso tommorow afternoon.

That's good that they're going to be going between Proviso and Council Bluffs for the next week since that should give me lots of opportunities to see (or miss by about two minutes) them. It would also be nice if they stop at the Durham Western Heritage Museum like Carl said. Hopefully I can get pictures whenever I see them.

Well, something held them up big-time, and that combined with a timely phone call prompted me to decide to be late to work this morning.  As a result, I have a couple of DYNAMITE pictures to share with y'all when I get back to my home PC tonight.  Later!Big Smile [:D]

This is so awesome. When 1996, 1995, and 1989 left, I either missed it or it was running late. This is my second chance! And it sounds like alot more than seconds too! ;) I plan to catch them in Lombard tonight. Would you agree that they would get to Lombard at around 7:00 tonight?

They're now east of Rochelle (webcam didn't archive them, I guess), and might actually get here before dark.

Yes, Andrew, when they went west they were much later than anticipated, and took two hours or more to get from Chicago to Lombard (I was up 'way past my bedtime for them).

Robby, the 1995 should be on MNPPR today, arriving tomorrow, if we're lucky.  The other three are scheduled out on tomorrow morning's MPRCB.  Hey, that means they have to meet somewhere, right?

You guys that get to see 'em are just plain lucky!  I'm stuck in the land of CN!  Occasionally a 'flying goose' will break the monotony...but mostly red/black/white engines around my neck of the woods. Sad [:(]

OK, here's the best shot of the bunch...

I actually wish they would've gotten delayed even more, as then I would've had better light on the near side of the engines.  Oh well- I take what I can get on short notice.  Here's a follow-up shot that got messed up by the shadows...

I was not alone out there this morning, there were a couple of other guys with cameras.  I asked them if they frequented the Trains.com forum- they didn't, but one said that he was a member of Trainorders.com.

Nice, Brian!  Hope you didn't get into much trouble for your late arrival.

Pat and I might go out looking for them tonight if they keep moving.  They're still between Rochelle and Cortland.
