Dumb question? Why risk lives with underground coal mining in WV when you have plenty of coal in WY?

WV (Appalachian) coal has always been better for metallurgical uses, and is better steam coal than Western coal. The reason Western coal is selling well is that it's cheap (part of the reason for that is that it's strip mined) and usually has a lower sulfur content which makes it more satisfactory for some customers. <br /> <br />Old Timer
