Milwaukee Passenger Trains
Posted by Supermicha on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 10:29 AM
I like to model some of Milwaukees Passenger trains, my question is, were there any left in the 1970´s? Is there a source with an overview of all of Milwaukees Passenger trains?

Thanks,

Immediately prior to Amtrak, there was still a small timetable of passenger trains on MILW. The "Morning Hiawatha" and "Fast Mail" ran Chicago-Twin Cities, there also were about 3 or 4 Chicago-Milwaukee runs in each direction, a weekend-only Chicago-Madison run, and the Chicago-Omaha "Consolidated Cities" which was handed off to UP at Omaha. MILW also ran a suburban service on two lines out of Chicago.

Any corrections and addditions would be appreciated.

The last run of the "Olympian Hiawatha" on the Pacific Coast Extension took place in 1961 or 1962. The electrification itself was discontinued in 1974.

There was also a commuter train in Milwaukee WI itself called the Cannonball.
Almost any book by Jim Scribbins should help but the Hiawatha Story especially
