pentrex milwaukee road video

Recieved it in mail this morning, and now I've finished all 3 films.

I didn't think anything can be interesting and at the same time make a man fall to sleep.
I mean the films are great and they look nice too, probably super8 Kodachrome, and It was a pleasure looking at all these little joes and box cabs passing by, and I've learned a thing or two, but the films are soooo relaxing and I almost fell to sleep.

It's like when you want to catch a late nigh movide but you are struggling to stay awake. It doesn't make the movie less interesting, it just means you are a bit too relaxed.

Anyway. I'm glad I bought these, I think I'll buy some more pentrex videos in the future, there are so many things that interest me that they cover in their collection that I'd rather have their entire collection.

The funnyest thing was that fire control vehicle running behind freight trains.

The Pentrex set of MILW videos are really fine though the dubbing of the same sound and over does get somewhat repetitive. Buy the DVD version over the VHS even though the quality is about the same. The Smalley MILW DVDs have more Westinghouse and BiPolar action. You will enjoy these as well.

I've noticed some strange things with sound. Are you saying they used same sounds over and over again?

Some of the sounds did sound as if they really belong to the shots though

I have several Pentrex videos and there is something about the voice of their narrator that also sends me to sleep, no matter what time of day I watch the video!
The only other voice I know that has the same effect is (was) baseball announcer Vin Sculley.

And I thought that I was the only person with a train video sleep problem. Glad to know that there are others out there.

Maybe the lullaby affect would disappear if they would actually break up the videos by having interviews with old timers, local historians, and, if the line is still active, current employees interspersed amoung the runbys.
