Maybe they are not yet equiped with the proper cab signals for the CNW Geneva sub???[?]

Sorry, big lump of chunky steel, about as attractive as a shipping container.[|(]

Dont matter how many colors they paint it, its still about as styling as a concrete block.[sigh]

Give me some GG1's, E's, F's, PA's, &FA's, and a Sharknose to round it out![bow]

   Have fun with your trains

Looks are one thing....reliable operation is what the railroads are paying for, and from my observations they are not getting their money's worth.

They seem to break continually, I don't know if this is the normal 'in use' teething problems of a new breed of locomotive or whether EMD have some serious design problems that need re-engineering. I used to think the EMD locomotives were more reliable than the GE's, the SD-70's of AC, DC and ACe varieties are changing my mind.

Never too old to have a happy childhood!

Yea BaltACD, I hear you.

Mighty strange the CSX's SD70Ace's didn't even have time to get their paint dirty, and CSX turns around and orders 100 new GE Evolutions.

I have seen one of the EMD SD70ACE's at Effingham Illinois, and another one at Evansville Indiana. I think that these engines are good looking and seem to perform very good.

Don't count on it, Dave. The new owners of EMD don't have the time or deep pockets to make a locomotive look "nice". They definitely don't have the money for re-engineering major mistakes. If CSX's SD70ACe's are an indication of anything, EMD may be in for a rough road ahead.

I can wait for as long as possible to see them in MRL colors...because of what they are replacing...that other famous flares, the SD45's! The UP ones look great, I hope they keep them cleaner than the SD70M's. They have a funny horn and they can make you do funny things when you hear it...like run outside of a railroad museum yelling Amtrak...which I have done. The first one I saw was a CSX.

Character? You're just getting old. I'm getting younger by the minute, and the ACe looks great!

My opinion of the SD70ACe front: It looks like a god!

It just lacks one thing . . . it needs a Mars Lite [;)] however, I will settle for a Gyralite. [:D]

Like the man says in the Taco Bell commerical, "It's good to go." [:D]

I don't no. There was a Westbound Stacker that came through Blair wich almost had the Horn of a new SD70ACe which turned out to be an SD70M! OOPS!

As for K.P. Harrier. Let's just hope it don't come down to that. I think that the SD70ACe is a very nice Locomotive, but to me.......I think that their way too wimpy. I think GEVO is a much better Locomotive. Allan.

But seeing one on UP, in the flesh, maiden voyage, Bigger than any other diesal around, nice flag on the side, so clean you could eat off it..........'nough said

I like the look of the SD70M-2's that CN has- they're essentially the same just DC not AC. I agree that it doesn't look like an EMD, and that's partly why it appealed to me as I prefer the GE design, and this looks pretty close.

Can't wait to see one here in Ontario. I guess they're all out west right now.

Looking forward to the new ES44DC's too.

It is ok but it would been better if they kept the SD70MAC Cab.

I absolutely love the look of the SD70ACe. I really do like the carbody of the SD70ACe, the most apelling section to me are the oversized radatiors. I loved the look back in 1998 when the SD90MAC- H II came out. I always wondered since then, if EMD was ever going to incorperate the cab style of the SD90MAC- H II into future locomotives I guess I have that question answered for me now! I think the best looking paint schemes on the SD70ACe are UP's Heritage Units with WP being my favorite. I also like CSX's Dark Future paint on the SD70ACe as well.

one of the best pulling engines ever made. the interior design of these engines are second to none. ge could learn some very good lessons from the designers from gm.

Nothing is uglier than a SD70MAC or SD70M. I much prefer the SD70 spartan cab like illinois central ordered. Now onto the SD70ACe an SD70M-2. Like them. I like boxy styling. But it doesn't looks as good as a SD40-2. I like the GEVO styling better than the ACe but i'm an EMD fan so i prefer the SD70M-2 over the ES44DC. I certainly want to see a model of a SD70ACe or SD70M-2 from Athearn or KATO. please vote in this poll

I love the SD70ACe!! CSX made the right choice in 2004! The nose looks cool, and the huge radiators also add to my liking! This is probably the reason I like the SD70M-2 and SD90MAC-HII which both look like twins of the ACE.

Things I dislike about them that junctionfan pointed out, is that they have very LOUD horns. I felt deaf after my first one came through. CSX 4842, I'm keepin' away from you, LOL! Hey, it rhymed! I guess I'm a poet, and I didn't know it.

But SD70ACes, SD70M-2s and SD90MAC-HIIs have gotta stay!!

.................

Oh yeah! But the GEVOs are the kings of the rails right now, LOL!

Got to sit in a GEVO the other day. I like the way GE just went to the storage shelves and pulled a few old throttle and DB control units and tossed em on that nice new console.Looks like Frankensteins monster. That old crappy blue green plastic crap with a goofy looking auto brake valve ( out of place to me)However am glad they dumped those *** desk top controls!
Have yet to play with the 70ace or m's( macs however are another story) but I know when in a consist they get up and move! toss a ge into notch 3 and WHAM from behind, just like a good EMD!

Yes we are on time but this is yesterdays train

Now---as a foamer...I THINK THEY LOOK AWESOME!!!![:D]

Zooom!!!
