You might want to see this--"UP Locomotive Moves to Air on TV"

Jay, I was going to say the same thing about the narration. The examples cited above (trackage ownership in Deming, "train", etc.) just further demonstrate the everyday ignorance that most people have about the subject of railroads and railroading.

I actually think either of those moves would have rated a show to themselves.

Did anyone else notice that it was the same dispatcher working with both operations? Yeah, right!

However, they did show brief shot of Demming and Omaha on the CTC board. So they got that part correct.

I turned it on just in time to see a couple of Mack trucks with their front ends up in the air & going nowhere trying to pull the Big Boy up a hill. Thought I was still watching the X Games on ESPN for a second! Somebody made the comment about driving downhill & seeing the Big Boy comming up the hill at you. Imagine if something went wrong on the last big hill and the Big Boy went back down the hill out of control(runaway!)? Any driver ( [D)] ) coming up the hill would not only have a [:O] look on their face but some
soiled shorts ( [dinner] ) as well. And yes, I did enjoy the show.

That part with the two Mack trucks up in the air was one of the best parts of that show!!!! I was also alittle worried about that guy up on the roof of the depot. I wonder how they found out that the lines weren't hot. I personally would of been a little nervous going up there not knowing if the lines were hot or not. In moving the depot they ran into another problem, they ran into high tension power lines on the expressway.

One thing that suprised me was that it took a whole day to move the Big Boy across the tracks over in Omaha. They only got about what five yards or so. I was sure UP wasn't too happy about them occupying the line for that length of time. But hay I guess the whole reason why UP hired them was to get some publicitly and to get their special equipment moved. lol.

They cleard the UP with no problem,It's when they where trying to cross the BNSF when thier bogie snapped off. It was BNSF's Omaha Sub. Allan.

I found the inaccuracies okay, I was able to shrug them off and still enjoy the show, but some times it did become annoying. I really enjoyed the show all in all.

If your intrested in more train programs.....RFD-TV is the channel for U!
You can see it on Dish Network, Direct TV, and some cable companies might.
Although it's mostly a tractor and agraculture channel, it has train programs playing throughout the week.
