Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Open House in Janesville July 9
Posted by jeaton on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 9:36 AM
The WSOR will have an open house at the Janesville (WI) Roundhouse from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. More information at http://www.wsorrailroad.com .

Good chance to meet and greet at least three other forum members. Post a reply if you decide to come over. We could set up a specific point for a check in and maybe have some "Hi, I'm _______ " labels for those who don't have any outstanding warrants for taking "illegal" pictures of trains.[}:)][:D][:D]

Thanks to talbanese (Tom) and Kathi Kube for bringing this up.

The roundhouse is really interesting as is the little yard they have there in Janesville
The steam locomotive that will be present is the Soo Line 1003, a 2-8-2 usually kept in the auto museum in Hartford WI. This is a really nice locomotive.

Just bringing this back up in case anyone interested missed the topic earlier.

Kathi Kube will be man..., no, perso..., no, IN CHARGE of the Trains Magazine booth on the grounds. Suggest that as the meeting spot for Forum members. Stop by on the hour.

I will be there as well for the day. Wouldnt mind meeting and swapping stories with everyone. I will have a black ball cap on if anyone sees me by the Trains booth if everyone follows the on the hour meeting times. Does anyone know if the 1003 pulling any trips to Milton Jct? I had a buddy tell me it might. Where exactly is the round house at in town? Can I follow the Milwakee line into town and come across it or is it alittle harder to find? Again I hope to meet some of you there, we will see you Saturday! Long live The Rock.

Just go to the link provided by the original poster, and print the page; there is a map provided by the WS.

Scott, as far as I know they aren't doing any excursions at the Janesville one this weekend. The Madison celebration will include rides though.

RI4310

If you are coming up I-39/90 Exit 175A puts you west on Racine Ave. Stay on Racine, cross the Rock River and go on about 10 short blocks further to Center Ave.

Turn Right on Center Av to Court St. (major intersection w/ rr tracks crossing on diagonal)

Left on Court St

Turn left on the first street on the left into the WSOR property.

See you there.

I'll bring some and leave them with Kathi at the Trains Magazine booth.
