This request was previously posted; now modified.
Need running info. on the UP Fullerton local job to the former Hunt-Wesson plant, via Whittier and La Habra. Would like to do some photgraphy of this "job" on its passage. If you live in the Pico-Whiiter-La Habra area and know of this train's operation or can advise me of its passing your vantage point, please call me at 714.879.2474, so I can arrange to meet the train at my photo site.

From what i did know, living in Southern California for 10 years(1984-1994),the Fullerton local used to do the switching in the morning hours. It mostly was the SP that i had seen doing the switching job. Very rarely did i see the UP doing the job.I saw a few SW1500's,GP38-2 and 40 units, mostly in 2 unit consists. The Santa Fe did some switching of their own on their own track .I do have pix of this area, though no shots of the SP doing the switching.I mostly have pix of the entire Hunt - Wesson facility. Be glad to scan them for you.I also have a track profile book of the Santa Fe line through Fullerton. One question of my own is,isn't the Hunt-Wesson facility closed now? I saw a few recent pix from Terra-server.com,and their seems to be no activity there, and places that were once there are gone.

Back in the dark ages (1966-1970) I lived in Brea and was familiar with the old Pacific Electric line that ran from Whitter to Yorba Linda. Southern Pacific operated the line as a freight service and for part of the way (Whittier to La Habra) the ROW had both UP and SP tracks. The main industry on the line was the Union Oil owned Pico Graphite plant in Brea or Placentia. The PE had a branch going south to Fullerton, however this was gone by the time I lived there. You could still see the abutments for a couple of bridges along the line. My question is what is the current status of both the UP ans SP (PE) lines today? How much has been abandoned, etc?

Thanks

The UP line through Fullerton was abandoned several years ago.
