Look for the lovely trio on page 12 in the July issue. And we've got a few other treats here and there ... but you'll have to wait a few weeks for them. Jim I don't know except that QuadGraphics had been their printing people. Yup, Quad still does our printing. From what I understand, subscriber copies are put into a US Postal Service multi-mail pool with other magazines and sent to Chicago for distribution. I don't know much beyond that, yet, but I've put out a feeler or two to try and find out more. Newsstand copies are sent to distributors via truck and rail, we figure. As for why the issues come earlier some months and later others, there are a lot of contributing factors — beginning with when we finish working on the issue. The day we ship the pages to Quad can range from the first day of the month to the ninth, depending on when holidays and weekends fall. (And ship days are always Tuesdays.) The last date copies are mailed to subscribers varies from the 18th of the month to the 25th. After that, we're at the mercy of shipping factors, just like everyone else. Flooding, snowstorms, labor, congestion, whatever. Anything that slows shipping traffic for a large segment of any mode will effect the rest of the industry. Even us. Long story short, figure about a month between the day the issue leaves our hands and the day it arrives in yours, and keep your eye on traffic trends. If or when I learn more, I'll pass it on. In the meantime, enjoy June and know that July is on its way. Happy days!
