The strangest thing.
Posted by Glen Ellyn on Sunday, April 24, 2005 3:22 PM
I finally went to Rochelle Illinois. It is awsome, their is so much activity, and I made some new friends, I even got a C&NW t-shirt. Anywho, the strangest thing happened to me today. A Union Pacific train came by, 3 SD70M's, only the third engine had a guy on it. That guy was taking pictures of us, as we were taking pictures of him. When I get the photo's developped, I will post it here.

Maybe the guys in the first unit were having a bad hair day, and didn't want to be photographed :-)

Railfan gets a cab ride?

That would be my guess. But when I get cab rides I'm under strict orders not to look like a railfan. I even have to wear the safty glasses and ear plugs.

Isn't it so much more fun railfanning when it's not done from in front of a computer screen? [8D]

Ooops...guess I'm a little late with the info for railfanning Rochelle in the other topic. Hope you had a good trip.

And you caught a rules violation too. I think he could have taken good enough pics from the cab, riding the running boards is a bad idea unless you have real buisness back there ( like taking a leak , sometimes the toilets are pretty scary) Alot of railroads today have rules about riding trailing units anyhow because of exhaust in the cab issues.
