The only way they will ever win, is when the last one of us quits standing for the National Anthem...stops holding doors open for ladies....gives up reading the paper...stops posting on forums...and forgets that this is the only country in the world where you can do any of those things, and not have to fear the goverment. If they won, then why is Mark Hemphill in Iraq? Why does my wife and her co-workers gather up things, and send home made care packages to soliders they dont even know? Why would a church group buy hundreds of tooth brushes, and get a toothpaste company to donate a matching number of tubes of toothpaste, and send it over there to be given away free to kids? You can never win against something as powerful as the heart of a volunteer, never beat the ability of Americans to care about others, and never, ever overcome the compassion of a people who, even after the Towers fell, showed restraint and control. You doubt that we could have turned that entire region into a solid sheet of radioactive glass in under a hour? They can never win, as long as we keep teaching our kids that the right to think, speak and choose for themselves isnt free, never has been, never will be. But it is earned, ever single day, by guys like dharmon, and scottydogs sons...by magazine editors being willing to leave their home and family for a year, by wives who still have their husbands at home, and understand how scared those who dont are...by little ole blue haired ladies in church groups that still care what God will think of them if they didnt help, and what they will think of themselves! Now, you can go ahead and quit, if thats what you want... But dont ever ask me too! I owe it my Dad, to Mark, and guys like Dan, to never give up living free, never give up fighting for the right to choose, and never quit fighting for those who cant fight for themselves... Quit if you want to, but I think you will be quitting alone... EdQUOTE: Originally posted by BNSF railfan. QUOTE: Originally posted by chad thomas K.P. Harrier, That's funny. Could not agree more. The terrorists only win if we give up and start behaving like scared rabbits. I liked your comment about us being able to turn the whole region into a solid sheet of radioactive glass. I wish a lot of people in that region and other places (are you listening, Kim-Jong Mentally Ill?) would think about that more often. Hasn't been necessary so far, but THERE'S ALWAYS TOMORROW . . . AND THE NEXT DAY . . . AND THE NEXT. Alot of the reason why went took out Saddom is the fact that HE made Bush Sr look bad in 1991. Also Saddam tried to kill Bush Sr later on the the 90's and all Clinton did was lob a few cruise missles at him. The best way not to let the terriosts win is to go about your normal days routine and not let the fact the goverment can look into everything you do without a warrent scare you. I get the feeling someone, somewhere is making a lot of $ off using 911 as a reason to scare the daylights out of the American people and make up silly rules rather than serious ones. We will have to learn to be aware, not scared to death! That's far from the trouth. What I am sick of is this scared attitude a LOT of people have now. I'm sick of the government using this fear to take away our rights. Rights like being able to take pictures in public places without getting hasseled by the local cops. And the rights against illegal search and seisure. It's so absurd to think you can fight terrorism defensivly, It just doesn't work. All it does is give the government a larger degree of freedom to do as they want. I think the battle with terrorism has to be an offensive one. And for the most part it has. "Those that trade freedom for security deserve neither"-don't know who said it but I fully agree. The Homeland secruity Dept. needs to wake up we already go thourgh a bomb dection device in order to get on the aircraft so how in the **** is taking away a lighter going to help. Since they already know if you have anything on you why would they let you board the aircraft. [soapbox][soapbox] We need to take control of the Goverment back there is a way that a term limit amendment could be passed without having to go thourgh congress. But if an when that ever happens we need to write it so a politican can serve a maximum of 16 years in any elected office that way we do not end up with carrer pol. It doesn't matter if it is a city council seat or in the congress or state house once their 16 years are up they are up and they will have to go to work and not for a lobbist group real work not as a consultant. that would show those people waht it is to work for a living. But we can only dream it will never happen since once someone gets into congress it is nearly impossible to get them out of it. Always at war with those that think OTR trucking is EASY.
