Thanks for setting me straight. Yes, Ben Franklin was very wise.

Mookie I am talking amending the US constitution so a politicain can only serve a maximum of 16 years total in any elected office across the country. It doesn't matter if it is a city council seat or in the congress or state house once their 16 years are up they are up and they will have to go to work and not for a lobbist group real work not as a consultant. that would show those people waht it is to work for a living. But we can only dream it will never happen since once someone gets into congress it is nearly impossible to get them out of it.

But if an when that ever happens we need to write it so a politican can serve a maximum of 16 years in any elected office that way we do not end up with carrer pol.
Our great state voters have voted on Term Limits 3 times. We have voted for them 3 times. I will let you figure out why once was not enough!

Ed,
I hope you were not refering to me about giving up. That's far from the trouth. What I am sick of is this scared attitude a LOT of people have now. I'm sick of the government using this fear to take away our rights. Rights like being able to take pictures in public places without getting hasseled by the local cops. And the rights against illegal search and seisure. It's so absurd to think you can fight terrorism defensivly, It just doesn't work. All it does is give the government a larger degree of freedom to do as they want.

I think the battle with terrorism has to be an offensive one. And for the most part it has.

And the latest news is - you can't take your lighter on the plane, but you can take.....drum roll here......up to four packs of matches on your person......

I get the feeling someone, somewhere is making a lot of $ off using 911 as a reason to scare the daylights out of the American people and make up silly rules rather than serious ones. We will have to learn to be aware, not scared to death!

Another headache comin'

If W Bush wanted to he could turn Iran and N Korea both into self ligh glass lined parking lots. Alot of the reason why went took out Saddom is the fact that HE made Bush Sr look bad in 1991. Also Saddam tried to kill Bush Sr later on the the 90's and all Clinton did was lob a few cruise missles at him. The best way not to let the terriosts win is to go about your normal days routine and not let the fact the goverment can look into everything you do without a warrent scare you.

Ed -

Well said; wish I could have expressed it as well. The terrorists only win if we give up and start behaving like scared rabbits.

I liked your comment about us being able to turn the whole region into a solid sheet of radioactive glass. I wish a lot of people in that region and other places (are you listening, Kim-Jong Mentally Ill?) would think about that more often. Hasn't been necessary so far, but THERE'S ALWAYS TOMORROW . . . AND THE NEXT DAY . . . AND THE NEXT.

No they havent, Allan...

The only way they will ever win, is when the last one of us quits standing for the National Anthem...stops holding doors open for ladies....gives up reading the paper...stops posting on forums...and forgets that this is the only country in the world where you can do any of those things, and not have to fear the goverment.

If they won, then why is Mark Hemphill in Iraq?

Why does my wife and her co-workers gather up things, and send home made care packages to soliders they dont even know?

Why would a church group buy hundreds of tooth brushes, and get a toothpaste company to donate a matching number of tubes of toothpaste, and send it over there to be given away free to kids?

You can never win against something as powerful as the heart of a volunteer,
never beat the ability of Americans to care about others, and never, ever overcome the compassion of a people who, even after the Towers fell, showed restraint and control.

You doubt that we could have turned that entire region into a solid sheet of radioactive glass in under a hour?

They can never win, as long as we keep teaching our kids that the right to think, speak and choose for themselves isnt free, never has been, never will be.

But it is earned, ever single day, by guys like dharmon, and scottydogs sons...by magazine editors being willing to leave their home and family for a year, by wives who still have their husbands at home, and understand how scared those who dont are...by little ole blue haired ladies in church groups that still care what God will think of them if they didnt help, and what they will think of themselves!

Now, you can go ahead and quit, if thats what you want...

But dont ever ask me too!

I owe it my Dad, to Mark, and guys like Dan, to never give up living free, never give up fighting for the right to choose, and never quit fighting for those who cant fight for themselves...

Quit if you want to, but I think you will be quitting alone...

Thats funny. Yeah, I can see how that would have happened.

Here is a funny story along those lines... Most of the time when I go train hunting, I have the kid with me. We never haven any problems when he with me. Everyine can usually tell whats going on. But one time I was by myself, I admit, I wasin public property but barley when I RR employee walked up and asked "Can I help you?" Well, that what he said, but what he ment was, "Ok, I have reason to kick your ***, now give me an excuse..."
I felt like I just got busted lookin at dads Playboy Mag or somehting. So I responded after a startle smile came across my face... "Oh, I got the day off and came down here to do a little foamin and mess up my shirt."
He paused and smiled then, and asked if I had seen anthing good and let me know that a one of the "mains" would one coming in soon , then we had a good little chat before he got called back. . Guess he got a kick out my repsonse. <grin>

Two Scared 9-1-1 Callers
Posted by K. P. Harrier on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 5:11 PM
FIRST 9-1-1 OPERATOR: What is your emergency?

TRAIN: We wanted to report suspicious activity.

FIRST 9-1-1 OPERATOR: OK, I can help you.

TRAIN: This is the westbound train alongside Highway 111. We have a suspicious car that has been following us for miles. When we slow down, it slows down. When we speedup, it speeds up.

FIRST 9-1-1 OPERATOR: We will send a patrol car out to investigate.

SECOND 9-1-1 OPERATOR: What is your emergency?

MOTORIST: I want to report a strange train.

SECOND 9-1-1 OPERATOR: Where is this train located?

MOTORIST: I am westbound on Highway 111 that follows the railroad tracks. A train is following me. Most locomotives are filthy dirty, but this train is sparkling clean. It is so beautiful I can’t help but stair at it. But, when I slowdown to look, it slows down too. I think something must be wrong.

SECOND 9-1-1 OPERATOR: We will send out a patrol car to investigate.

FIRST 9-1-1 OPERATOR: What is your emergency?

TRAIN: This is the train that was along Highway 111. We are adjacent Canyon Road now. That car is still following us. He even got ahead of us, parked his car, and watched us as we passed. A crewmember went outside the locomotive on the walkway to ask what the strange motorist was doing, and why he was following us. The motorist didn’t say anything. Perhaps he is a terrorist that does not understand English.

FIRST 9-1-1 OPERATOR: We will look into it.

SECOND 9-1-1 OPERATOR: What is your emergency?

MOTORIST: This is the motorist that was on Highway 111 that reported the train incident. I am now on the Canyon roadway. A big, strange man came out of the locomotive cab and yelled something at me. I have the slightest idea what he said. I think the train has been hijacked. The man could not possibly have been one of the crew. Any rightful crewmember would know the locomotive makes so much noise pulling up the hill he couldn’t possibly carry on a conversation with someone trackside. I think someone really should investigate. Besides, why is the train still following me?

SECOND 9-1-1 OPERATOR: Sounds serious. We will expedite a unit and investigate.

MOTORIST: Thank you.

The point: A semi-similar situation actually happened, but events and circumstances were altered in this story to protect the parties involved. It seems cowards are super scared of their own shadows these days. America needs to get out of the stupid mode it seems to be in. If it does not, America could hardly be considered the “land of the free” with “liberty for all.” Osama bin Laden would rejoice in that.

PLEASE DO NOT “QUOTE” THIS ENTIRE STORY IN FORUM COMMENTING.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- K.P.’s absolute “theorem” from early, early childhood that he has seen over and over and over again: Those that CAUSE a problem in the first place will act the most violently if questioned or exposed.
