American Orient Express

Does anybody have a complete roster of the American Orient Express? I contacted them, and they would not help (security reasons, they said - BAH!) I need car names and numbers so that myself and my daughter may model them. Also, what should the motive power be? I model late steam/transition era. To fit in my layout, I decided not to use the Genesis P42!

I believe that Trains magazine had a feature on them several years ago. (contact them for back issues) But if you model steam/transition era, you do realize that AEE/AOE is a creation of the '90's, right? Don't quote me on this, but I think that some commercially available AEE/AOE models have been produced. I am not sure of who sold them though.

Thanks for the help. You are right, they are a creation of the nineties, but I am trying to make it fit in. I was just looking for suggestions for a realistic option. Also, thank you for the models option, I own a Rivarossi set, but other than its limited run and associated serial number, I don't intend to use it much.

In Canada the AOE uses a combination CN / VIA power (the Amtrak unit failed on more than one occasion).

Also an issue of Trains mag (2000 or 2001)had a article on the AOE and equipment...

...and should add that although AOE is a product of the 1990's given that VIA unit(s) are used,techically you could use a VIA 6300 ( the rebuilt CN F9 units!) as these were in use daily up to April 2002 (primarily theChurchill trains (the Hudson Bay)!
