Murphy,
I do appreciate the supreme embellishment of your original simplisticly stated response. I now fully understand. I don't do simple well.
schlimmSince that was my obvious reference, you've made your own point. The forums have become rife with threads about (next to) nothing.
A victim of their own success?
Over the years, we've had some great discussions here about some pretty mundane things. And while we haven't talked about everything, we've covered a large number of topics - to the point where if someone new asks a question, an old-timer can usually provide a link to a previous thread on the topic. And someone usually does do exactly that.
On occasion, this will engender new discussion, but more often than not, that's the end of it. Sometimes the new member will stick around and join more discussions, and sometimes they just came in for that one question and are gone.
Nothing lights things up like a good controversy, though, and sometimes those get out of hand (moderation, anyone?). But they do usually go on for quite some time.

In reference to your post and Murphy's, it seems to me one aspect of railroading that is in short supply on here is looking toward the future, especially the passenger side. That does not seems to interest many posters beyond the usual suspects and is often deounced by some who want to discuss only the 'good old days.'

gardendanceBy the way, so far nobody's replied in either the real thread or this imitation to say that they consider themselves to be a decent poster.
Most would assume it was just a rhetorical question with no answer needed.
But I'm not asking most people, I'm asking those special ones who consider themselves to be loftier, more intelligent, and far more attractive than most people.

I just want to mention that I was disappointed with this thread. When I saw "Indecent Posters" in the title, I thought we'd be looking at racy pictures.

That sounds like the topless and bottomless night club where the serving staff worked with no hats or shoes.
Ulrich I'm told I'm wrong every single day of the week by people from all walks of life, employees, family members, banks, suppliers, customers, complete strangers even. Yet I don't get bent up over it.. am I wrong?

At my age I keep finding out how much I know I don't know.

Much of th grief expressed (here) to this end could just as likely be explained as anti-social behavior ("does not play well with others").
And careers that place employees out at lone, isolated locations tend to be a magnet for anti-social personalities. Big surprise? no.

That's good!! There are others too stupid to even understand how much they don't know. Needless to say they all consider themselves to be 'authorities'.

So you consider yourself to be an authority on authorities? As someone once said: "There are others too stupid to even understand how much they don't know. Needless to say they all consider themselves to be 'authorities'."
It's been fun. But it isn't much fun anymore. Signing off for now.
The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of my employer, any other railroad, company, or person.t fun any

Source? Citation? wiki link?
I could claim that forums like this are magnets for anti-social types, too. I mean, you're here and I doubt that you would win any "plays well with others" awards. You mostly only ever show up when you can take pot shots at other posters. Usually RRers for some reason. Maybe just certain ones. Oh well, I still love ya. Don't ever change.
