To give a more specific answer to this question, CD-05 and CD-06(there was also a CD-03)were U.P.'s early rostering for the units and they were custom built for the City of Denver. There would not have been a specific model number-e.g. SW-1, GP-7, E-3, etc. as during that time in history, passenger diesels employed a carbody produced in conjunction with a passenger car builder with internal parts and running gear(largely off the shelf items here in the case of EMC/EMD)provided by a locomotive builder prior to the introduction of "catalogue" or specific model types.
