Christmas Tran In Nelson, B.C.
Posted by Doc Murdock on Friday, December 14, 2007 5:05 PM

I think it was the first time ever but the Canadian Pacific Christmas Train came through Nelson, B.C. last night. They collected donations for local food banks in both Castlegar and Nelson. I took a friend of mine down last night just before the train came in at 7:30. He was quite impressed on the train was decorated

Did anyone else take in any Christmas Trains in their area?

There are two that run through Arkansas.
I've not seen them this year, but I have seen them before.
They would be Kansas City Southern's Christmas express(?), which the kids get to see Santa, goodies, 2 Lionel layouts, and a tank car-turned Rudy "steam locomotive".
Arkansas Midland has an engine and a caboose run over most of their trackage, but they have to move over UP because they have three sections, around Hot Springs, North Little Rock, and McGee. At each stop, kids would see Santa, get present, and at each stop, one lucky kid would get a train set.

Hey Doc, got pics? I understand this is the first time an AC4400 has ever been seen on that line! I hear it was very cautious Wink [;)]

I couldn't see it this year because I was pretty sick at the time, so that makes 4 that I've missed Sad [:(]

I think 6 axle units were always rare on the former KVR. I used to take road trips to Nelson in the 90s. WOW! That's a beautiful town.

I believe you're right, Train Boy, in that it was the first time that a AC4400 horsepower has gone through this part of the world. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it as I don't have a camera in my possession.Sign - Oops [#oops] I keep overlooking this fact.

Nelson is a beautiful in many ways. The lumber transload centre is being replace by a rock crushing site. I believe they will be hauling product out by train.
