Suydam BAP B+B boxcab electric mechanism

Several years ago, unable to find any of the Suydam models, I was able to buy six pair of trucks for their model of the BAP boxcab, enough to build three locos. The same trucks would also suit a model of the Canadian Northern/Canadian National B+B locos that worked into Montréal.
I can build the superstructures, but I have no idea how the locos were powered, that is, how power was transmitted from the motor to the trucks.
I'd very much appreciate it if anyone can explain how the locos were powered.
