Possibly Changing E-mail, What is the correct procedure...?

  • Due to a recent anouncement that a major change in my E-mail provider, I am considering changing my E-mail adress (and E-mail service provider).  However, I am not sure of how to go about doing this without loosing acess to my membership on the Trains websites (as well as my Subscriber acess to the magazines that I currently subscribe to).

Is there a certain process that I have to do (or a certain person I have to contact) in order to get the changes worked out?

       Thank you

  • I don't have any Kalmbach magazine subscriptions to know how this account might tie in - I only use it for forum access.

I would send an e-mail to Kalmbach customer support ASAP with your question.

As far as I know, you can change the public and private (account login id) email addresses at any time within your 'Community Settings' link on the right hand column.

Just curious, who is your current email provider?  Hopefully your current account can be forwarded for a period of time to the new provider you choose, if any.  I pay a nominal amount for Fastmail, a very professional and functional email provider. I also use my ISP and Yahoo email accounts for less critical uses (like here).

    Good luck!

  • Thank you for your help, Mike.  I'll check with Customer Support and see what they say.

Currently, I'm using live/hotmail (through Microsoft) but, according to an E-mail I got recently, Microsoft is ending Hotmail (I think) and will transfer all accounts to some new version of Microsoft Outlook (which, to be honest, I have never been able to figure out).

     Again, THank you

A quick look at Wikipedia reveals that Hotmail is morphing into Outlook.com, presumably still free but featuring the Metro interface.

    Microsoft - the Anti Choice.

  • Actually, it's not so much with Microsoft itself, but the fact that the E-mail stuff with Hotmail confuses me enough already (It took me 2 years, and a couple thousand E-mails to figure out how to send pictures to my friend) so I figure that, since I will have to re-learn everything anyways, why not try to find a simpler E-mail service?

All that the change to Outlook has (and is) doing is accelerating my decision-making on the matter (to a hopefully less confusing alternative)

I definately am not that computer literate for the most part...
