Problems with IE and Forums

  • Lately I have been having a problem with MS Internet Explorer and trying to read the Forums. Everytime I attempt to open the forums from the Community tab or inside the forums when I click on a new subject (post) I get the following message.

"This tab has been recovered" "A problem with this webpage caused Internet Explorer to close and reopen the tab"

I am using IE8 and Windows XP. I have two machines like this and it happens on both. I also have a laptop with MS Vista and IE8 and it happens on this machine also

Can anyone throw some light on this problem?

  • Thought I would answer my own post... Poking around on the net I found an article saying that some websites that might not display correctly would work with using Compatiblity Mode. I tried it and it seems to cure the problem. Not sure if that is a fix or MR needs to seek out and destroy the problem so Compatibility mode is not needed.

Funny, the problem only occurs in forums

  • Even though there have been these issues w/ IE8 for some time now, I still am experiencing troubles even in "Compatibility View" to the modified IE7.  Thought this was just my PC doing this.

Is wesite having even more troubles?

  • Hey guys! I am with my buddy Paul. He is having tremendous problems as is the OP logging in and having to go thur the same thing as the OP.  For some reason, his computer is not holding the session cookies for his return log in. "Remember me" is clicked and the computer is set to accept cookies. I feel this is a problem with the web site rather than his computer. Anybody got any ideas?

Or, you could use Firefox , Al, and be done with the annoyance.  I have both Firefox 10 and IE 8 installed on my computer but use Firefox 99% of the time.

    Paul,

You might try contacting Kalmbach's Customer Service and letting them know your issue.  At least the info would more likely get back to the person who has the power the rectify the issue.

  • I have machines running XP, Vista, and 7.  All are running Internet Explorer 9.  All of them work perfectly.  I suspect the problem is with your anti virus program.

  • For quite some time I have been using Firefox with Add-Ons.

Adblock Plus 2.0.3. Blocks many ads.

Flashblock 1.5.15.1. Takes care of Flash sites.

Download Helper 4.9.8. Great for downloading videos and music from You Tube.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.

  • Make sure you have all of the updates for IE8 installed on your systems.   FWIW, I have never had a problem with this website using FireFox.  I am currently using FF v9.0.

  • I had the same 'This tab has been recovered' issue when I was using IE8. I clicked the compatibility icon and that seemed to help. Things went fine for a day or two then it started messing up again. Clicking the compatibility icon didn't help this time. Eventually it became so bad IE would crash, and yes Brakie, I kept my IE constantly updated. I switched to Firefox and haven't looked back since. Haven't been having any of that dropped tab business either.

  • I have IE8 and FF. Just tried opening the page in IE, it is locked up solid. Kalmbach has had issues dealing with Gates and Co. for some time. Last computer had IE6, and didn't play well with these forums at all.
