This is my first time here. We will see how it works. Can anyone tell me how slow you can operate a HO engine. I have recently purchased a proto engine that has dual flywheels and prewired board for DCC, but no DCC chip. I am running on DC for now. I am looking forward to when I can DCC.
Does it hurt the motor to operate at a slow speed?

To answer your question, with a good quality analog DC power pack you can probably run your model rather more slowly than any but a top engineer can run the 1:1 scale version. As long as the motor doesn't stall due to overloading low speed operation shouldn't hurt it.
