I take back my taking back, Had the browser closed, came back in, there was a followup post and the topic heading was NOT bolded. Neither was this one, with Simon's reply coming after mine. I'll give it a little more time in case it is related to indexing, if that hasn't finished up yet. But it is annoying.

jeffrey-wimberly fiatfan I don't know if anyone else uses it, but I sure miss the "Mark all read" button. You still have it. Right side of the screen under 'Forum Options'.

Thanks, Jeffrey. I guess I need to learn how to read.

Actually, this isn't that bad....I like the read, the clarity and I see nothing clunky about it at all. You want to return to the days of clunky...Yahoo Groups.... I'm almost positive that once you write a post there a room full of monks go to work transcribing it onto parchment.
Wow, I didn't know there were moderators that could move posts. Kalmbach forum presence seems to be non-existent including now with all the new forum version issues.
Good question - the only photos I've included in posts were linked from an external source (Flickr). Since I may discontinue them, uploading would be a good feature.
However, I just tried Insert Image and it has no upload option. The use of the 'Your Photos' option in the right column is unknown - hate to try the generic Help on this Dog Slow site.
Guess that this is a crippled or disabled new feature. I can't imagine why I'd like to insert an image from some mystery 'media gallery'. Anyone else figure this out?

Will we eventually be able to upload photos to our "gallery" from this forum?
Edit: Since this question was arbitrarily moved here I should add that the question was posted from the Classic Toy Trains forum.

richg1998 This new format is terrible. Techies cannot seem to leave things alone that work. The paper magazine is going downhill but I thought they would leave the forums alone. Guess not. More and more I am preferring the MRH forums. Rich

I just can't figure out why they don't go with something like vBulletin. It's not that expensive, it works great, and since it's all over the Internet, most people already know it's in's and out's.
I also much preferred being able to see 50 posts per page that we had before. It was much quicker to see if there was anything new I wanted to delve into.

Eh, better than when we used to kick it old school round here.

tstage "JaBear" Gidday, Well I guess there are some improvements as we can now change fonts, colours, and size. Actually, JaBear, you could do that with the prior format, too. The Font family, Font size, and font color were listed before. The Paragraph/heading option is new though. Tom

When I click on "Latest Post" it only takes me to the top of the last page, not to the latest posting.
It is definitely faster on a slooooow connection. So there's at least one good thing to come of this.
Lack of easy visualization of threads with new posts though, that is still annoying me.
I can certainly live with it, probably will soon like it very much, so much for learning curves. Back in my younger years after college, I got in on the ground floor of the computer revolution while workiing for Santa Fe in Topeka GOB. they sent me to IBM school ( I owe them big time for that). A few years later I went to the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank to help develop their operaitons and spent 28 years with them while doing ministry. The last five years with the Fed was teaching users ( a generally hated place to be) but I enjoyed watching them come to life on their computers. One thing I did learn and retain for sure is nothing is forever. The field changes rapidly, did for me, and has continued to snowball. So I have seen change after change come in EDP and been a part of it, and I do know the testing that was done (at least in my days) before a product hit the user. The format will grow on most of you who hate it now, and you will discover many new features I am sure. Give it a chance and see.

Gee, I didn't know that "Maintenance" equaled "Complete Forum Reboot". So if I had some workmen come in to "maintain" my house for me while I'm away, I should not be surprised to see a new house sitting on my lot when I get home from vacation. Sort of like "Extreme Makeover: MR Forum Edition". Anyways...
My complaint (that no one else has mentioned yet) is that the original post date is missing from the forum thread titles. I've been on this forum for over 10 years now, and there have been thousands and thousands of threads made. Since MR refuses to lock old threads, and some people invariably resurrect them, it brings up situations where I am reading a thread and find that I posted to this already...5+ years ago! It would be nice if Trains.com would put the original post date in the thread title so at least people could be warned that the thread is older than dirt.
Thanks.

I have been involved with Programs and Programming since the early 1960's, and there is one thing I have learned. It is fix the stuff in back, but leave what people see alone. The new IT generation wants everyone to see how great they are and when the thing bombs like this one did they don't want to take responsibility for it and just say you are stuck with the piece of crap they came up with.
Also, if all you people would get off of Internet Exploder and go to Mozilla they would not have to do these fixes to make it fit the Microsoft World.
