  • hey guys,

Is there a program that helps you put sound on to a locomotive for train simulator?

  • Route Riter lets you modify eng files and cabviews.  I am pretty sure you can change the sounds there.  I have just done it the old fashioned way and replaced them directly.

  • I just installed route riter and 3 programs came with it! Do you know wich one I should use?

                                              Thanks!

Help me on that. I found an Add-on Canadian Christmas train. I want to replace the bell with a bit of Holiday Tunes

To replace the bell, all you need to do is go to C://Program Files/Microsoft Games/Train Simulator/Trains/Trainset/Name of engine you want to change the bell on/Sound. Then simply find the .wav file that has the word bell in it, back this up, along with the file with the same name but with x_ at the begining, this is the outside bell sound. Copy the nex bell sound you want, and make a copy of it and rename it the same as the sounds you backed up (make one start with x_). This will change the bell sound. HOWEVER, if you want the sound to loop, that is repeat over and over while the bell button is held down (BTW, you can press Ctrl + B to make the bell sound continuously.) you need to use a sound editing program. With just the songs though, you should not need to do this. If you need help and want to make a horn file loop, post on this forum. If the engine does not have a Sound folder, post again and I will show you what to do.

What do you do if the engine doesn't have a bell? Do you just copy and paste it in to the sound folder?

I'm on a different comp right now. But, would the bell still automatically loop as on the Dash-9, HHP, and Accela?
