Marias Pass, 3.1

  • I have seen Marias Pass 3.1 mentioned in a couple of topics on here and I have been considering downloading it. I want to make sure it is really worth downloading though. Can anyone who already has it let me know if it works? Also, does it slow down the simulator very much? I got a new computer about a year ago and Train Simulator has been working great, so I don't want it to go downhill now.

    Thanks very much!

  • The route is a much better representation of Marias Pass than what comes with the game.  There are a few activities available out there that will tax your machine, but my 4 year old computer can handle them (MSTS bin 1.6 really speeds them up though).  A couple of the activities have 2-3 ai trains moving at the same time, which can be a hog on the memory.

The route is starting to show its age though considering some of the newer routes available.  I still run it on occasion though.

  • Checkout this forum topic over at train-sim.com,  I would recommend that you check out Whitefish 7.  http://forums.flightsim.com/ts/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=3&topic_id=167129&mesg_id=167129&page=
The train came by and I got on, that’s when it all began
  • I think I'll go ahead and download Marias Pass 3.1 and then consider one of the Whitefish addons later on. Thanks for the advice.

  • Have you done it yet?

In the end I decided to wait a little longer, mainly because I had another add-on coming from 3dTrainstuff. I do still plan on trying it sometime, but not until I've worn out the new add-on. I've had 3dTrainstuff's Tehachapi Pass Route for a couple of years and I decided to order Espee Over Tehachapi. So far it has been excellent, as are all of the others I have from 3dTrainstuff.

I'll let you know how Marias Pass 3.1 works once I have downloaded it.
