It's a grand idea, but has anyone ever considered doing it? Can it be done?
The most extensive network I've ever downloaded (for MSTS) was the Northeast Corridor version 4 (I think). It had the origional line, which was improved, and a parallel line, and the D.C. area commuter/subway line around Union Station and out to the suburbs. My desktop could handle it all but my laptop couldn't. All lines were electrified despite the creator's choice because he said MSTS wouldn't allow partial electrification. However, ProTrain, a German developer, figured out how. I digress.
As for CTA, I'm sure it could. Would be quite a challenge. I messed with the world editor starting from scratch once and gave up. It's beyond me unless I had the time to learn it.
Have you checked www.trainsim.com ? I searched the routes for "chicago" and got several returns for the elevated railways. Might be worth a look.
