What Windows operating system?

I'm curious about something. I was reading through the topic "Train Simulator" and some seem to be having real problems installing and running MSTS while others seem to have few or no problems at all. We've discussed the hardware/drivers side of things, but not much has been said about what operating system you're using. MSTS runs fine for me and I'm using Windows 98. My Dad runs Windows ME and has no problems with MSTS either. Just wondering if that could make a difference somehow...
