Well today I was called for a local to run down to Home Depot and Merrill Iron and Steel, I really didn't want to have to venture out into this crap....But oh well....So I grabbed my gear and headed out the door to the Wausau yard office......On the way down there, I was thinking what kind of power I will have to use today, I remember we had the SOO GP30 sitting around down there and I was so hoping NOT to have that one, the heater in that thing sucks and ya have to kick it here and there just to keep it going.....When we got down there we seen a WC GP40 and that was tacked onto some cars that looked as though it will be going to Home Depot, right then and there I felt the comfort of a nice days of work.....We went into the office to grab our switch list and then headed for our already running, heated up, nice ride today....We got on our way and headed to Rothschild and ducked under HWY 29 and kept on going to head to WestonSlowing up to make a stop at the Home Depot, we pass Weston 3 power plantWith our cut of cars left on the mainline, we then run light down the siding to grab the emptiesWith the empties in tow, we pull back to the mainline to grab our loadsWe grab our loads and the conductor hops on the back and rides back to the spot where we will spot these loads, we slow for the RR crossing so he can hop off and flag the crossingWith the loads spotted, we then head back to the main to grab our empties to head up to Merrill Iron and SteelWith our train back together, we then head up to the next customerDucking back under HWY 29At the Schofield we cut away from the cars we pulled from Home Depot, and pull 2 empty gondolas into the steel plantShoving the cars into the plantWith the switching complete, we then head back to the main for one last time to grab our cars, and head back to the yardWhen we pulled back into the yard, we then see the SOO GP30, he must have been out switching 3M judging by the cars he had behind himWe then park our train next to the GP30 and head inside to turn in our paper work for the day and head er on home to beat the next snow storm
That sequence of events would be great to see in part of a 3D RealD movie.
