Well you guessed it....Another great day of RR fanning.....But today was something special.....This day we chased a Algoma Central passenger train that did an excursion from Escanaba to Argonne on the Pembine Sub and then down the Shawano Sub to Black Creek and then onto the tracks of the Green Bay and Western on the Black Creen Sub over to Green Bay and then from Green Bay the train went north up onto the Marinette Sub through Oconto and up onto Marinette and then up to Powers and back over to Escanaba....Our chase picks up right at the depot at Argonne and will end in Black Creek.....
Our first shot of the day is up at Argonne where we wait for the AC train to show up....But also waiting for this train to show up is a loaded CN ore train that is making its final leg of its journey into Escanaba
While we compress the time the AC train finally makes it into Argonne where it will pull into the siding and let this CN ore train go on by
With the AC train in the clear...The CN ore train notches up the throttle and screams out of town
As the last car rattles over the switch
The switch is thrown...And the AC backs onto the main
As the AC train heads south out of town we then catch it at the saw mill here in Neopit
The train makes a quick stop in the small community of Gresham
Coming into Shawano now...The train crosses the Wolf River
Slowing to make another stop here in Shawano
After making a 11 minute stop here in town...We get informed that at the CNW diamond there will be the Green Bay to Wausau train waiting for us at the diamond...But our train will get the hi-ball to stomp over the diamond first...On the way to the diamond we thought "Oh the same ol power usually...good ol SD40-2's will be waiting for us at the spot"
We then hurried to the CNW diamond and he was not there yet...So we then hurried to a spot where he will be down to a crawl coming thru this busy town and to our surprise and I mean this was like a one time catch on this line....Here came not 1 but 2 C40-8's for a lashup....Boy did this day turn out GOOD
As we hurried back to the diamond...The CNW train was already stopped at the diamond waiting for the AC train to go on by....Few seconds lata the AC train stomped over the diamond
With the AC train in the clear....We just had to stick around to see this beauty in action...We seen they had a cut of cars to leave on the interchange track for the WC to work at the mills in town....We then watched him shove the cars onto the tracks for the WC
With there work complete the 2 GE's head west towards Wausau leaving us in a plume of smoke
With there last car rattling over the diamond we then head south to look for the AC train
Seeing that the only spot we caught up to him was here in Black Creek where he will be waiting for the daily GBW train from Green Bay to Plover head west over the diamond first
18 minutes lata the GBW train comes into sight and makes its way over the diamond
With the GBW in the clear its the AC's turn to go over the diamond
Now this was going to be an interesting thing to see....First the AC train pulls into the siding here at Black Creek
Cuts the power from the train and runs around its train to the other end
With there air test complete, they get a hold of the GBW dispatcher in Green Bay to get clearance to enter the GBW tracks from here to Green Bay
With the day coming to an end...We shoot this train one last time out side of town
Well that wraps up another great North Eastern Wisconsin train chase....We hope you enjoyed this story as much as I did making it and getting all the pix....Stay tuned for more RR action coming soon your way....
